I just finished paying my bills through my bank's online services. I find it very convenient. However, I sometimes think of what will happen if somebody hacked into the banking online system. Do you trust online banking?

I often use online banking because it is convenient. In usual, there are quite a lot of people in the bank. So I prefer to take advantage of the online banking. I hate to wait in the bank. And I am not very afraid of the online banking security because I think they must do it well. I love China

Now, after reading the other comments, yours is a relief. Although our country is a third world country, so to speak, I hope the bank safeguards are first world caliber. Fortunately, I also never had any problems with my local bank.

For all my banking transactions, I think I only go and visit the bank 5% of the time. I do my banking online. I know that there will always be fear that my account could get hacked, but I wouldn't be able to live normally if I don't move on from this fear. Plus it helps that the banks have their system set up that they immediately freeze the account if there is an unusual transaction.

Trusting online banking depends on my resources. For example, if my anti-virus is not very strong, I will not engage in such transaction or even enroll my account in an on-line banking. With all the hackers roaming over the web looking for a very poor internet firewall, doing this would mean attracting unscrupulous surfers. But as long as my firewall and all the safety precautions, I think it is the most convenient way of transactions.

Thank you for sharing. I have not even checked whether the firewall and other safety precautions are good. I just trust that since the banks offered online banking services, their system is protected from hackers. My banking account is definitely inconsequential compared to the other account holders.

I do trust online banking. I have been using it for quite sometime and it helped me lessen transaction costs in sending money to my family back home. So far it is secured. You just need first not to set it up where your computer is set to remember your password. second, Do not post obvious clues that leads to your password. Most of the people i know, uses their birth date, pet's name, nickname as their password. There is such a thing as social phishing where these hackers read and analyze what you post on social networking sites and set it in a way to form a password and then use that to access your account. Third, do be very careful as to what you post or what you share online. Hope that helps. :D

I trust my online bank, I just don't trust other people. There were times that my laptop is in the repair shop and I have to use a computer in a cafe. I make sure that I log it out and I clear the cache and cookies after I use the computer.

Yes, I rely on online banking too. I count it as my another form of ATM ;-) It makes sense to do transactions of your own banking account via online facility. Money transfer is so easy. Only thing one needs to take care of security reasons like user name, PIN, password etc.

Personally, I do trust my bank's online services. I do think that it's safe. I'm not saying that I don't worry that something that might happen, that it might be hacked, or something. Occasionally, I do. But so far, nothing like that has happened. So, I'm not really worried about anything. I keep an eye on it and check it regularly, just to make sure that everything is in order.

I don't trust online banking as the hackers are continually inventing new ways of getting into people's computers. Barclays Bank in the UK have an ingenious system whereby you can bank online without having to touch your computer's keyboard, hence not making any key-strokes that a hacker could identify. The banking is done via a remote, hand-held device which is completely unreadable and undetectable from your PC as it's an entirely different piece of equipment and isn't even connected to your PC whilst in use. However, I still prefer to visit my bank as I like the personal touch and I feel it would be sad if that vanished entirely due to total reliance on the internet.

I have been doing online banking for 3 years now and I find it very convenient and haven't had any problems to date, thank God. So as of the moment, I can say that yes, I trust online banking. However, of course, I activited all notifications in the system so that I would have a record of all transactions online. When I was not aware yet of these notifications, I even took screenshots just so I could have a documentation to show the bank in case I encounter problems. But I stopped doing it after I started receiving the notifications in my email . Now, here's hoping that I won't ever have problems with online banking .

Yes. I guess the bank will not only protect its clients but more importantly will protect its own system. Online banking is not only convenient but it also saves time and money.
