My boyfriend and I want to start a restaurant and have been talking about it for awhile now. We have finally moved forward with this idea and are going on a trip to scout out places by the beach to start a restaurant. The only problem is neither of us have any idea what we are doing or where we should start. I have read a lot online about what to do, and all the "rules" to follow. In my opinion, the best knowledge comes from people like you, so if you have any advice or stories you would like to share, that would be great!

its a good idea to open a restaurant given the current environment. and most of the working class people prefer to eat outside from my personal experience. but if you are opening the restaurant the most important thing to look out is the location. it should be the prime location where u can expect people anytime and every time.ideally it should be an area were there are many offices around as people who are working in current corporate world prefer to try out different variety of food. so u got to ensure that there are good varieties of food prepared because they will also pass there opinion if the food is not good. i wont suggest but even an area where there couple of colleges and schools and good amount of residents may also be a good option as well.so should make a good r&d before u set up a restaurant.

Hi ,this is great idea.I have a dream for starting restaurant but is still in my mind.Anyway it's not easy task the menager should to consider what kind of customers want to attract and draw in his/her place. The area is also very import topic because we all know that the kitchen menu in all countries is different. There is a lot of strategions to attract the people but it's a hard work and must be done with plesure in opposite it will give you a lot of tiredness and fatigue. All that I can say that no specific rules in this business you should attract the people with your ouw style and unique.I think that is good start for business. The all rest is a question of big dose of luck.Have a nice day!

The two five most important thing you should consider before starting out a restaurant are the following. Your capital, manpower, location, target market, product to pursue. Your capital should be enough for the restaurant you plan to start. Are you going to rent a place, buy a pre-owned building or build a restaurant from scratch. Do you have the manpower with the skills to operate your restaurant? What is your target market? Do you plan to cater foods for students, employees or tourists? What type of foods do you plan to sell? Would you want to have a theme for your restaurant? Create a business plan as well as a feasibility study before jumping into business.

This is very ambitious of you and I wish you success. I have no experience in this and all I could say to help is in my opinion you need to speak to others who have succeeded in the same restaurant business you are interested in starting. People who 'make it' are usually very generous with their time and advice and would be willing to help you. All the best!! What kind of restaurant are you considering?
