He has been working all year 6 days a week and going to high school. He is averaging 32 hours a week at work. He graduates this Sunday. The place he is working is planning on hiring him. They have started the process. He had to take some kind of test. The highest you can get is 100. They told him that his score was a 99. The highest that the shop has ever had. They said as long as his drug test comes back good, he will be hired. He will start out at over $15 an hour. A nice jump from the $8 an hour he is making through them as part-time. In this time of trying to find a job, he has done very well. He has turned into a very smart and responsible young man. Do you know anyone that is graduating?

Wow, I am certainly that you super proud of your son. Actually, he had done a great job under such economy. Anyway, do your son has any plan on go to college? I mean, he wants to work for while to gain some experience, or whether he wants to work to earn some money and save them for college expenses? I wish that your son also has a plan for future. Because through schooling, he can have better future than $15.00 per hour.

My son is now a certified welder, an no he has no plans to go back to school, but if he decides to, the company that he works for will help him with the cost. If he does it will be a Tech college, he is not great with learning from books, but picks up things quick when shown. I know he will never be a lawyer or doctor, but that is ok by me.

Congratulations! So happy for you and your son. My niece is graduating soon too. The economy situation in Malaysia is much better. There are good job offers for soon-to-be graduates. She is doing accountancy, a well establish accounting/auditor firm had offer her a job which she will start working by September. Her final exams will be over in June and graduating in August 2011.

This is great. People are struggling to find work and he has worked his way into an excellent position. No one close to me graduating at this time.

Congratulations to the both of you. Yes you get to take a little credit here also. I have two children just a little older and I know very much how you feel. You should keep a diary or journal of his accomplishments and details and emotions. Its fun to look back on or use as encouragement in not so positive times. Just an idea.

That's wonderful news! You have every right to be extremely proud of your son AND t be very proud of yourself as well for raising such a good kid. In these uncertain times when kids are graduating from college, even some with advanced degrees, and not being able to find jobs, this is terrific news. I remember when I was in high school it was the norm for teens to have jobs after school and on weekends but today it just doesn't seem like there are as many looking to earn their own money. To me it was a matter of feeling "independent" and of accomplishment. It wasn't that my parents couldn't afford to buy me what I needed but I really liked the idea of earning my OWN money to buy clothes and cosmetics and go to movies and other places with my friends. I realize that right now it's extra hard for high school kids to find work since many of the places that would normally be able to hire them either aren't hiring at all or are filling the positions with older people who have lost their jobs, but even when the economy was doing better it just didn't seem like as many kids wanted to work as they did back when I was young. Your son is proof positive that it DOES pay-off in the long run. Kudos all around! Annie

He was struggling in school, and he wanted to go to the vocational school for welding. He was able to go from struggling to the top of his class. He can learn by watching, but reading in not a strong point. He has no plans for further schooling, but if he decides to, the place he works will help him with the fees.

Congratulations to your son!! And congratulations to you and your husband for raising a responsible, intelligent child! My great niece is graduating and I'm going to the family gathering. Her dad home schooled her and her brother for the most part and they are wonderful kids. Her brother won't graduate for a couple of years. They are both wonderful kids, I can't believe she is graduation--it seems just a couple weeks ago that we visited and she was a little toddler!

Wow!! Nice. $15 an hr. for someone just graduating from High School is a nice start, and with getting a 99 out of 100. Great job there too. I actually know a couple of kids from the Church I attend who graduated from High School this yr. along with a couple of kids who graduated college. Not sure what all of them are planning on doing but I know that with the Economy being the way it is it is not always going to be an easy move for sure.

That's astounding! What fabulous news, I'll bet you are all over the moon. I don't know anyone graduating but I'm sure it must be a difficult time for some. It's a really important time of transition from school to work and it looks like your boy is going to achieve this rite of passage seamlessly. That's a huge accomplishment. Hugs to you lovely friend and thanks for sharing.

Wow! Wow! No wonder you're so proud of him!! He's going to be a self made man and he's on the right road in doing so! Awesome! Hope he keeps up with the great work! No I don't know anybody that's graduating this year and don't know if I will for the next few years because they're all relativly young but if they keep up with their school work, they will and I pray go off to college or job core and make good lives for themselves.

Congraulations to your son & to u. That is wonderful that he has stepped into such a good joright out of school. That says alot for the good job he did working part time. It has sure paid off for him. Having a good mom has been an advanteage to him. I know u are proud of him. I'm very proud for him also. I know one young man that is graduating. I met him at church & am very fond of his whole family. I'm very fond of young people who have ambitions like your son has.

Most of the jobs being offered around here right now are part-time or minimum wage, so to land this one is really good. I just hope he don't forget it.

I actually don't know of anyone that is graduating this year, but it certainly sounds like you have plenty of reasons to be a proud Momma of your graduate. Does he have any plans for the future other than starting to work full time at the place that he has been working? If he does, then it definitely sounds like he is really far ahead of the average graduate. Please give him my congratulations on his achievement.

Congratulations to you son, but more especially to you! What did you do to raise such responsible and intelligent son? I have a five year old son. Needless to say, I have a long long way to go and I could get some tips from you.
