What's Up With This Tomato?

I belong to a square foot gardening group, and one of my fellow members there posted a query about a tomato she got from her CSA. She's looking to find out what is wrong with this tomato as it looks weird.
This is a pic of the tomato in question:
Everyone in the group is really creeped out by it and the two other photos that came after it show that the tomato actually sprouted. I can only post one pic here but you should see the others. Let me know if you want me to share a link to the other two.
I'd appreciate anyone with knowledge about this, letting me know how this happens.
thanks.

I am sure I do not know my friend. I do know I would not be eating it though

Eew...it does look creepy. It looks like something sinister is going to break out of it!
It actually sprouted?!!!

Exactly my thoughts; something sinister and you should see the other two pics. She said hers didn't actually sprout yet. She put it in a ziploc baggie. She did find other pictures though and wonders if hers will sprout.

You can add those pictures one by one against your comments and then we all will have a clearer picture.

Don't think she can do that yet as she hasn't reached 500 points.

It does look like something is going to burst out from it. Post the link of the other 2 pics so we can see them. Should be interesting.

hi cynergyDiva I would bet its been a bit overfertilized and just has what I would call tomato acne. bu t I will bet that all things considered it will be very tasty as its large and nice bright crimson, I doubt the litle bumps will hurt any thing at all.I would venture it had a bit too much loving care., I have seen other veggies with tiny bumps and they were in a garden that was almost over fed and over watered but the veggies were really quite edible so the bumps did not really spoil the quality of the produce.

I suppose it couldn't hurt anything, but if it does turn out like the others, it'd sure put me off eating it.
