Even at college graduation, students are extremely immature

Today I had rehearsal for graduation. It was a very simple rehearsal but it extended to a couple hours because students kept talking and interrupting the person who was giving instructions. Everyone kept talking about the same old things you hear in high school, and it was very frustrating to listen to them. I can not wait till graduation is over and I can leave this place. It is sad that even students who are about to graduate are so immature. Four years of upper level education haven't taught them how to deal with real life situations, which call for much more insight than high school gossip. How do you feel about your fellow adult peers?

They're super immature.I'm in university and it is the exact same here. But then again they are living up the last few years of adolescence before they're forced to grow up and join the work force.I guess,I can't blame them for milking the sweet life while it lasts because once it's over it's over.

I think you need to at least give it a break sometimes. I mean, it's graduation day! It's something to be excited about and besides, you've been practicing about it the whole few weeks prior the day. Not to mention that nobody would care if the lines aren't straight and people are smiling - after all, it's the end of a lot of stress (for school) and a new beginning.
So take it easy, don't be a prune. If you're going to stress about everything, you'll soon find yourself frustrated about everything in the world.
Have a great MyLot experience!

Hi there,
My thinking is that the excitement got the best of them and they somehow forgot where they were at. True immaturity is a factor but soon now after graduation many will have to force themselves to grow up and or not function well if they can't understand instructions here on.

To be honest, I don't think that everyone is realizing that collectively they are being extremely loud and rude. If everyone is in their own little groups having discussions, and they are all in their separate little bubbles, then they won't be paying attention to their peers and the person giving instructions. Although, really, they should be mature enough by now to realize that they need to listen to the person giving the instructions - he/she is in authority.

Sometimes it takes other people a little bit longer get out of the immature stage. And it usually have something to do with the fact that they dont have anyone in there life that can teach them how to grow up and even still they dont. Growing up is something everyone has to do on their own time. Just be patient with them and hopefully they will grow out of it before you move on. As for me I let go of any immature people a long time ago. I dont have time to sit and wait on people to realize that the things they are doing arent for them anymore. So I moved on.

Well, If I were in your situation I would also feel the same. But you have to consider the situation of your peers. They might be too excited or had things in their minds (which will account for their not listening) that contributed to the situation. Besides, for some college students, this is the last time that they could mess around without being reprimanded for it. The next step after that is to build a career and find a job. They want to make most of their time that they might not have after the whole ceremony thing.
As for me, I have a love-hate relationship with my other peers. There are those that I cannot stand and those that I can live with. I don't want to speak about the people I cannot stand. But the people that I can live with thought of me as a very serious and uptight individual, a reason why they often try to kid me around. They turned out to be a fun-loving people who also have the best intentions. I guess it depends on the type of tpeople you meet and you interact with.

I don't know them but I can say this. When they hit the real world, they are going to feel like they were just hit with a ton of bricks. Reality will set in quickly. It's just too bad you won't be there to see it. Best Wishes!

Ah, the wonderful thing about education, you can spend all that money and still know next to nothing. Universitys are not set up to teach maturity just idologies, theories, philosophies. Fact and truth are in short supply because they get in the way of idologies. What you have just experienced are the people who went to college and got stalled in the social without gaining any understanding of themselves or the world. Any person gets out of something just what they put in. The only person you can control is yourself. If you got a good education, you will never see these people again so consider yourself lucky. What they do is devalue the education you received by going out in the workforce and being idiots there also. The college where you received your degree will be less impressive to employers. Sorry!

Being immature is not necessarily bad. It is part of growing up. I think, your peers tend to talk about same old things because that is their common point of view, and that makes them feel that they are accepted. This may sometimes be too much, but this is sometimes true. When you are a teenager, you are caught in between. you are confused on how to act. Nontheless, you'll get through it, and maybe looking back to your graduation rehearsal ten years from now, you'll just laugh at it.:) Enjoy life.
