A Funny Thing Happened

I shared some sad news about the recent tornadoes in our area, now I want to share a funny and good story. A man was in his home, and when he heard the tornado go away, he came out of his mostly destroyed home and looked in his backyard, at his pool. And in his pool stood a live horse. Only, the man does not own a horse! And he doesn't have a neighbor for a couple of miles! I remember seeing the horse on the news. The helicopter had recorded the tornadoes as they happened, and they flew over this man's house. I remember thinking how weird it was that there was a horse out front. I didn't see the remnants of a barn or even a fence, and no other houses were in sight. Well, now I know.
Did you ever see the movie Twister? And the flying cow? Well, it happens. The horse was completely unharmed. Good story and I wanted to share the nice story, not just the bad ones.

Wow! That really is one lucky horse. I bet it was scared silly though. That does remind me of Twister.

That is amazing! The horse is a very lucky animal. I wonder if the horse will make it back to its rightful owner. It is really great to read the good stories from something as devastating as these natural disasters can be.
And yes, I do remember the movie Twister. This story sounds like something that would have been in that movie. I am just happy to hear that the animal survived what must have been a very frightening ordeal.
Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

Hi AmbiePam, So pleased to hear that the horse was okay. It is awful the weather you are experiencing over there and so many deaths too, so very sad. I wonder how many miles the horse was from. I have seen the film Twister many times but must be so frightening to live through one rather than see on the tv. Glad you are safe. Huggles. Ellie :D

Wow. Well, I guess if tractor trailers could be lifted up, so could horses or cows. But I never thought about that before.
Poor horse. I'm glad it wasn't harmed. But I'll bet it won't like storms now.

This is quite interesting, and something more people would never believe without seeing it, and most people would think this is something that only happened in the movies. It is a shame to see so many lives and homes destroyed from this bad weather everywhere, and glad for the lives left untouched. But am sure this helped give the man in that house some hope that there is truly something good that came from this.

That's funny, my husband and son were talking about that movie Twister and the flying cows because we have had a couple nights of bad storms and tornado watches/warnings. Those are the good stories, too bad not all turn out that way..I have been praying for that family today, it really breaks my heart thinking of what they are going through right now..:'(

THAT is one LUCKY horse! Wow!! I know that man had to take a second look and still couldn't believe what he was seeing! LOL With tornatos, anything can happen so we're to expect the unexpected but gee, to THIS extreme? LOL Hopefully they're able to get the horse out without any problems. If only it could talk, it would have a lot to tell about.

That is strange! How far was the horse from where it belonged? Sounds like the animal got lucky to not have been hurt. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, we all do. I didn't update you about that on the discussion about it because I didn't want to make you sad. But they did find the little boy, deceased in the nearby lake. The poor dad did a news conference this afternoon. He voice broke when he started talking about his two sons - his buddies he called them.
The good thing is that the mother and her unborn baby are in fair condition and will be okay. The five year old girl is still in critical condition, but it is a good sign she's made it so far.

I am so sorry and I hope that the parents eventually find peace. I was a tragic accident caused by an act of nature. I pray that one day they will find peace.

Yes, I did see Twister, and the flying cow.
I guess that's a little bit funny. In the context of all the destruction. On how a horse survived without being harmed. Even if it walked or trotted to get there, it is still interesting that he/she ended up in a pool where it is presumably safe.

Oh, it didn't walk there, that's for sure. You'd have had to see the surrounding area of the guy's home to see how impossible it would have been for him to just get away from his regular owner. It's been known to happen to people before. A sister of one of my elementary teachers was once in a tornado. It destroyed half of her home, but picked her up, in her bed, and "flew" her three blocks over. Besides cuts and bruises she was fine. And we didn't really believe it until we saw the pictures.

I'm glad that you're safe and able to take it light-heartedly. How is your neighborhood/community now?
That is one funny story. I can only imagine the surprised look that man made upon seeing the horse. It could be sent from heaven - haha.

Aw, I could only pray for them. So sad this had to happen. Yes, we can prepare ourselves for disasters, but we can never say we're already safe.
Do me a favor of keeping yourself and family safe and keep praying for those affected families.
Take care!

That's amazing the horse made it unharmed! Quite a miracle! However, all this talk of tornado's freaks my eldest out every time there's a storm. It's rare that one comes near here, though one came to a town last year within 20 or so min drive of here.

hi ambiepam yes that is a nice story amid the bad, I saw the aftermath
of that tornado that ruined Joplin Missouri on the television and
it made me shudder at the complete devastation it wrought.
I had heard of cows that were transported by the winds of
a tornado. I saw that movie Twister too.I remember seeing the
results of a tornado that hit spearfish South dakota years
back. the garage from one house was lifted and set down
almost perfectly on the foundation of a house that was completely
blown away and a baby carriage hanging in a tree.also wheat stems that pierced the wood of a power pole.So the man at least got a free horse
out of the tornado. lol. oddly here in Southern California thats one thing we seldom get a tornado. Years back I did miss one that struck just outside of DisneyLand in Anaheime C alifornia. I wonder what that
poor horse thought being lifted off his feet and then dumped a long
ways from his own home.

I haven't been on MyLot lately, but I've been thinking about you and my other MyLot friends. Hope all is okay with you.
I've heard many strange stories from my Mom about tornadoes that use to hit the farms in South Dakota. One hit their farm and totally destroyed the outbuildings/barn/pigpen/etc. But when they checked where the chicken coop was the hens were still sitting on their nests/eggs. They covered up the hens with a tarp they found where the sheep building use to be. The chicks hatched a week later. The house was moved about a foot off its foundation but everyone was okay.
Stay safe!

Couldn't help myself from laughing when i read your story.
Lucky for the horse to be still alive after he has experienced being sipped and thrown afterward by the tornado. I can just imagine the man gaping in amazement and happiness for seeing a horse in his pool.
Perhaps the horse was so dizzy after being inside the tornado.
