I love french fries, especially McDonald's and Burger King's. But since I got pregnant, I have to be health conscious. Knowing that fries are fried, I became a fan of Potato Corner whose fries are cooked in turbo broilers and steamed. It's a healthy treat, just stay away from the powder flavorings. But theirs are a bit pricey for such a small amount of fries. So I decided to steam my own fries. I bought Frenchies and tried to steam them but didn't get the result that I want. My fries became mushy. I didn't use a turbo broiler, but a steamer. Maybe that's why they became mushy. I was disappointed, so I searched the net for a french fries recipe that is good for me. I don't like the typical drenched in oil recipe. So I found some that can be grilled, baked and has herbs too! Also, I found wonderful recipes using potatoes as snacks and not just as fries. I haven't tried those recipes yet, but as soon as I get to the market, I'll be buying the ingredients. But if you have a good ol' country recipe for making fries, please feel free to share it with me :)

i like store bought french fries done at home in hot oil. i find most fast food french fies too thin and with nothing to them. we also just cut up potatoes and cook them the same way.

yes both are perfect ways, we're eating french fries like once per week as family for lunch or dinner, but for me sometimes I'm making more often :)

I love frech fries too :D but I prefer to make them in home, they're amazing good, and when I want them soft I can make it when I want a little bit crunchy no problem. When I was pregnant I was eating french fries, I was just eating other things more healthy but I didn't want to stop eating french fries :D

That sounds very imressive and interesting. I can sense you are very good at cooking things. That's some thing I am not good at all. I like french fries very much. That is my favorite side-dish every time I go to a restaurant. But, I can't make it myself. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

Oh man, I love fries too! It's better if we eat fries which are not really fried. Or if they are fried, we can use olive oil instead - though it will be more expensive. Haha. Do you live in the Philippines too? Potato Corner is awesome! It's just expensive, yes. You can try mashed potatoes instead if you want as they are healthier. :)

I heard mcdonald's french fries contain so much preservatives that it won't go bad even if you leave it for 30 days!!! but whatever, i still love it! yum!!

Yep, even Wendy's. If you only eat about once or twice a week, that's okay, I guess. But in my case, I love fries so much that I want to make it my snack almost everyday, fastfood fries are a no-no.

I love french fries too. When I was pregnant I only want to eat fries and a cheeseburger lol. You can never go wrong with ordering some fries unless thier cold then ask for a fresh batch :). If I'm home and my hubby got the car I'll make my own which I like more than Mcdonalds fries. But I just get regular potatoes, peel them, cut them into stripes and the let them soak in some water with salt in it. Then just fry them and enjoy with some ketchup. You can also bake it just set the oven too 425.
