With the recent study that long exposure to cellphones could result to damage to our brain or problems with remembering, do you still use cellphone for a very long conversation? Since the beginning that I use a cellphone, I seldom use it for a long conversation unless it is for important matters or I am the recipient of the call. Most of the time, I use it for text messaging rather than phone calls. I don't even subscribe for phone companies offering unlimited calls because I don't use it often. How about you friends?

I usually use my home telephone for long calls instead of cell phones. Always have been aware of the radiation cellphones causes. Cell phones are mainly used by me for urgent calls or SMS.

Not really that long although my husband and I have a post-paid subscription. As long as we were able to say our piece that's it. But back in our courtship days, we really make use of unlimited calls and we would call each other for hours.

Hi. r3jcorp. Right now my cell phone is my main phone at home. If I do use my cell phone, I use it maybe once a week. I may stay on it up to two hours. Sometimes in a week, I may not be on my cell phone too long. I have heard about the dangers of the longer usage of being on a cell phone. I know that it can cause bad side effects too.

Brain damage for using a phone? Are you serious? Really, pls think twice before believing such things. Reading the answers, I saw some are concerned about "radiation" emitted by cellphones.
Let me say that this is a MYTH, an absolute lie and exaggeration copied by many since it was invented. Radiation is what you have at Chernobyl. Cellphones use something called "electromagnetic waves" to communicate, that are pretty much innocuous, at least in the amount we are exposed daily in a normal environment. Actually, most electronic devices uses some form of what you call radiation to communicate, to the point that if it were harmful, the whole plantet would be inhabitable by now.
OK, moving away from the myth and insanity of some, I go to the point of this topic.
I rarely use my cellphone for calls now. I much prefer a few texts to say something short if I really need, and if that's not enough, I might call. For work of course, it's a must to call most times. However I rarely extend more than a couple minutes in speaking on the phone, cell or not.

Ten minutes I think is the longest if I will be using the cell phone to call someone. I also don't subscribe to post paid billing because I use it more often to send messages only. I only use it to call during emergency.

The title of your discussion caught my eye because I was reviewing my cellphone plan. One of the things I looked into was how much time do I use to make calls. On average, it does seem that I'm making about 160mins of calls per month. It's rather difficult to decide whether I should upgrade to a better plan because the amount of calls I make is rather in between two plans.
I don't use unlimited call plans because I often use the company phone for office use and mostly text instead of call.

I dont use my cellphone anymore for anything other than business related calls. I used to be able to talk on the phone for hours and hours, but I guess the older you get the less important the talking on the phone becomes. And if I do talk it usually only a 10 minute call. I am into texting now.

Hi there,
I read possibility of these problems when a person use his/her cell phone for a long time. It also said that if possible talk using the loud speaker mode or hand free mode.
Well for me, if I am feel like calling some one of my friends I sit down on the veranda and sometime it goes up to 40 minutes at a stretch.
However as you put the talk time depends upon the gravity of the situation. These days I do not talk so long. Rather say them that we would talk on meeting.
Cell phone users are not aware of this and therefore some problems are creeping in.

I usually use it for about 5 minutes I guess. I don't actually use my cellphone that often. I use the text messaging feature, that is why I subscribe to prepaid instead of the monthly plans.

I am more of a texter than a caller. The frequent calls I make are for delivery of drinking water and pickup/delivery of my laundry. I only call home, family or friends once in a while but if I do, it can be up to an hour. Before, there are frequent work related calls but it's lesser now and I'm glad .

Yes, I know about that study. However, we cannot control the use of cellphones in this century specially if you are away of your home phone, office phone and the person that you are talking to doesn't have internet access. I have a bluetooth headset connected to my phone so I can answer the phone right away whenever I'm busy or just using the headset to I have free hands moving when I'm on the computer.

Yes because of the radiation caused by cell phones, it could damage our brain and cause brain cancer. It is definitely not good to have cell phones near us, especially our head. Not only that, i always remind my boyfriend no to put the cellphone in his pocket because the high radiation could kill sperms :)
Most of the time when communicating with my friends, i use SMS too. However, when a conversation is necessary, i'll still talk over the phone. If i'm at home, i'll just take out my ear piece and plug it to the phone and this solves the problem!

I've been using cell phone since I was 18 years old & now I'm 40, it's been 22 years. Past 15 years or so, I've been using my cell phone exclusively & I use it for work reasons as well so I tend to use it a lot. I haven't had any memory problem yet. I usually go through 2,500 - 3,000 minutes of talk time a month.
