do you always ask for receipt in every transaction you have to other people?
for you, what is/are the important of receipt?
my mom have a problem now,she bought a rights of a parcel of land here in my country without issuing of receipt, and now that there is someone who reclaimed that lot,the problem is my mom couldn't show any documents that she really bought that lot because no receipt issued during that time.thats why receipt is very important especially when money involve here.is this happen to you?

For your first round of questions, i do routinely ask for a receipt, no matter no little I purchased. I dread of buying fraud or low class materials. Without a receipt, I won't likely get a refund or a exchanged item. Also, I keep my receipts to monitor my expenses. By this method, I know when to splurge and when not to.
I guess your mom should have been more careful in handling that transaction. I don't
think a receipt would have been appropriate document for a parcel of land. Usually, a title of the land or a certification from the local government (usually the land dept.) is issued for the party who bought the land. Receipts are for merchandise and other business transactions like fast food and other business. But i guess it can also apply to transaction within the local government. I am guessing that's what your mom lost.
In my country, it was mandatory to give receipts but citizens are encourage to demand just the same. There is also a promo that concerns receipts.

hello asliah,
What happened to your mom is a good example why we really need to have a receipt for every transaction involving money, for valid reason.
I always asks a receipt whether it is official or not,as long as the person has his/her signature i am fine with it.
I hope your mom will find ways on how she can prove that she really bought that land.
have a great weekend

now that is a big problem, if you gave a big amount of money of course you need to demand for a receipt. i wont go without having one if i bought a land or even just a pig. when we eat out on restaurants my wife make sure she keeps the receipt she said she does that because if ever something happened to us she has a proof that the last meal we had is from that restaurant.... what more if we spend a lot of cash for a land. it is not just because you dont trust a person that is why you are asking for receipt, this is for legal purposes, after all that is your money then you have the right to demand for a receipt. maybe your mom trust the person thats why it was okay if she was not issued a receipt. i feel bad and feel sorry for what happened hope it can be solve.

Out of habit I always ask for a receipt, I kind of want to see in writing what I paid for. Also I have been known in the past to be overcharged and without a receipt we cannot prove it.
Also too I like receipts for things because many I can use for tax deductions as well.
Many of our stores actually have a sign that says if cashier fails to issue a receipt complain to the manager for $2 payment, this way the cashiers are charging correctly.

i see to it that a receipt is issued to me after every transaction, especially the personal ones and those with high value.
some people may forget or even deny the transaction altogether. so a valid proof would be a receipt.
of course, there are other purposes of the receipt. but my primary purpose it for me to have a proof of my transaction should anybody claim otherwise.
i've had experiences too, but just minor ones (in which i have forgotten the details already). minor, but quite traumatic. but those circumstances made me aware to be asking for a receipt.
oh, and i think you know this already. but when purchasing some land, you're supposed to be asking for a receipt, a land title, and an affidavit of transfer. at least, that's what i know of in my country.
i hope the dispute gets settled soon.

Here in the U.S. a receipt showing a sale of property would not be enough to prove ownership. You would also have to have a court document showing transfer of title.

It depends on the what it is that Ihave purchased. Whenever I by anything online I either print out my receipt or I send it to my email so I can alway have it near by.I had that happen to me once though. I ordered clothes from this store online and when it was delivered it went to the wrong address, luckily I was able to contact the delivery service and they sent their delivery guy back to where he droped it off. When he came to bring my package he smiled as if it were funny, bt i made sure my words let him know it wasnt funny.

I don't ask for a receipt for every transaction only the important ones when it involves a lot of money. For example electronic items or video games i keep the receipts as they may go wrong and i may have to take them back.I definitely would ask for a receipt if i made the same transaction your mum did i definitely would ask for a receipt.

In terms of accounting, receipts are proof of transaction. That's why it's important for us to acquire receipts for things that we bought. It serves as proof and as reference later on just in case something happen. I do feel sorry for your mom. Maybe she needs to find some other proof of purchase, if it's possible.

Uh-oh, that's too bad. Isn't she supposed to have a land title after buying the rights to that parcel of land? I hope your mom finds a way to prove that she really bought it.
I always ask for receipt for items that I now I'll need it in the future like for instance receipts of items with warranty.

I always ask a receipt as much as possible whenever i part with big money. That way, when someone claims that you haven't paid them yet for an item you get in installments ,you have proof to refute them.
Your mom could have not encountered that, ahd she been careful and assuring of the transaction. A parcel of land bought certainly should have a deed of sale executed and done by a lawyer or a notary public. That way, you are assured that if someone makes a claim, that deed of sale could refute such claim.

Every time i buy something whether its small amount or big amount i always ask for a receipt, for me it is very important to have a receipt when you buy something because its a one of your proving documents when it has a problem like what happened to your mom... about selling we should always ask for a receipt if no receipt we ask for a hand written receipt with the name of seller and signature on the top of the printed name and you should put an initial mark on it.

hi asliah,
I hope your mom's problem will be resolved soon.
as an international student, I only keep receipt for electronic goods and school payment documents since they are expensive and not easy to be claimed if I don't have receipt as proof of payment. but I always throw away the receipts for grocery, eating at restaurants, or anything about foods because foods will finish in the near time and it's not worth it to claim food payments.

Most of the times I forget, but when I buy something important or something that's worth a lot, then I always ask for a receipt. You never know when you're gonna need it. That's a tight situation you're mom's in. I hope she gets through it, and in her favor.

Aw, never ever transact without receipt especially if the item is as big as a LAND!
In the world we are living today, I always make sure I paid right and I paid the right people. Because it's my money that I'm giving to other people, I have to make sure that I pay the right people and I pay the right amount.
See you around!
