They see how people around them looks like and of course, the reaction that they get from the actions that they make also affects their desire to do these specific actions again. I have a cousin who asks my mom to put lipstick on him when he was a kid, that is whenever he sees my mom preparing to go to work. I can say that it did not affect his gender orientation at all now that he's almost an adult.
