I'm afraid my experience of planning has always been "The bigger they are, the more mess they make". Nothing I've planned has really worked, so I just go with the flow.
When I was single, it was a lot easier to plan: the additional complication of trying to include the desires of a second person (with different values and way of living) makes it virtually impossible. That's a polite way of saying that she doesn't have a clue and I have to cover for it.
My life is like a canoe ride: I just hope to paddle with the current most of the time. Hope for the best, plan for the worst - that's all you can do.

So I guess "God laughs at those who make plans" clearly suits you eh?
I sometimes do feel bad when things don't go well, especially if I feel so strongly and passionately about attaining it. But fortunately though, I do am able to move on. Well, after a period of time at least.
I like your analogy of life with a canoe ride.
Have a good day!

I like to make plans and create goals and I usually do that. I don't achieve all of my goals, but I still like to think about things that I want to do, my dreams and my goals for the future, because it helps me find the right direction and I know what kind of things I working towards. I have a notebook that I call My goal-book" and in that book I write down my ideas for the future. I sometimes smile when I read the things that I wrote 10 years ago because so much have changed since that time and some of the things that used to be important to me are no longer important. Some of goals I haven't achieved, on the other hand I have also done things today that I never imagined 10 years ago.

Wow, its good to know that you do list your plans. I've known of someone who does the same. He shared the benefits of having a "hard copy" of his plans in life.
He stated that having a plan allows him to have a constant reminder of the things that he wanted-thus enabling him to get constantly inspired to work hard towards attaining such goal.

I think all of us have plans, however, there are times when things just come into place. As for me, I do have plans but some of those would just remain plans. On the other hand, there are those events which just show up and you get to like what you're doing with it.
I have many plans that never will happen and sometimes I do think of the "what ifs" but if I would just stop to daydreaming, then I would just waste time regretting what should have been. Therefore, I may allow myself to think about it in a minute or two, but I often try not to think about it too much else it'll get me nowhere.
Changes may happen and most are not as we expect them to be but as long as we move forward there will be something waiting for us in the end.
Have a great MyLot experience!

I agree, some people are all about plans..not so much on taking action in order to make it possible.
It's ironic that as per my observation, people tend to complain about the hardships in life. Not minding about the effort that they exerted is not that complimentary to the kind of achievement that they want to achieve.
Well, perhaps its part of our human nature to be lazy- just blaming all the bad things to "fate" when in fact its our own misguided notion of luck and life that puts us in that situation.

I am a person who "take things as they come" . I believe, as long as i am doing what is right, everything will always fall in its proper place.
However, when i have things to implement, i always have plan A and plan B. In addition, i offer it to God to help me go through it. That way, when plan A fails, i still have plan B to try . When all else fails, i move one and think of other better things to do.

Indeed, different situations calls for different actions. I agree that when having something to achieve, we need to have a fall back.
And when things don't turn out favorably, there are far more things that needed our attention. I agree, we should not allow ourselves to dwell on the "failures". It will only drag us down.

I do have a vision as to what I'd like my future to be. I am not one of those people that just wing it in life, I need to have a plan as to what I'd like to pursue. Most of the time things turn out according to plan. When things don't go according to plan, I find a way to work with it.

Wow, glad to see a very determined mylotter here!
I admire your sense of passion towards attaining your goals. Most of the people, including me , will have to contend with failure and just move on with another goal. It is my point that if it is not realized, then this is not for me. You however, will find a way to make it work when things don't turn out according to plan. I don't mean it in a bad way, I actually admire you!
Perhaps I should adopt that mentality of yours-to just go for it and fight, fight, fight! hehehe
Blessed day!

I can honestly say I'm sort of a "planner" when it comes to my life. I wasn't always like this though. I started planning out my life when i turned eighteen. Before that i was just going with the flow. When things don't go according to my plan i move on from it and continue with what's next. I haven't had many things not going as i planned so far but i know things change. I think i take change really well. Everyone changes and everything is not guaranteed, that's just life.

I had personal goals in life and I do intend to make it happen-thus I plan and undertake these steps in order to achieve it.
I don't really view myself as "organized", in fact, I do tend to change my mind quite easily especially when things don't turn out quite as expected.
But generally though, I had a "master plan" that guides me on my bout in life.
Thanks for your input!

Well, in some ways you would say that I have goals and dreams in my life that I would Love to see come true. I have always been one that even at the age I am now, have always wanted more for me with my Business etc. to one day never have to work for anyone else, and know it is up to me to eventually find a way to make that happen. But I also know that no matter what if I continue to put my Faith and trust in god then the things that do happen will be his control as well.

I think it is normal and human to always want more..I wish I could learn to be content-its the most appropriate thing. Perhaps we'll just try to do our best and if things don't turn out favorably, we could always move on and focus on the things that really mattered.
I think our faith in God enables us to look forward when our plans in life fail. Truly we cannot fathom God's "plan" for us. All that we need and have to do is completely surrender to Him.
Thanks for your input. Blessed day!

I used to plan everything out, but then the older I get I realize that I cant plan everything out because things change. And you have to be ready to accept any change that comes your way. So now I just take everything day by day and I dont plan anything out except maybe what I am going to cook for dinner. Life is too short so instead of living your life as if you know that you are going to be here forever I say live everyday as if its your last. Do everything right and try to be as happy as ever.

Change does render our plans futile sometimes..and it is frustrating!
I do have many unrealized plans in life due to the changes that happens along the way. Oftentimes, I just shrugged it off and formulate another plan. That's just me..hehehe
Indeed life is too short!
Have a blessed day!

Planning almost always don't go as expected that's why we have to form a plan b or plan c, heck, you can even make it til plan z.

Hi there!
Human beings are made to become an architect of their life.
I am the architect of my own life. I plan and if it fails, I revise it.
The most challenging task of an architect is how make an almost perfect design.
Of course there's no such thing as perfection when it comes to life.
We must admit that the most feared thing called "failure" is always present.
Hence, no matter how the plan is beautifully and carefully considered, if God has not signed on it, it's futile!
Simply said, we make designs, we create plans but we can never be sure of its success! There are inevitable factors that may either help or hinder the realization of our plans. If it happens, we should never lose heart. Instead, we should accept it knowing that there's something much better that awaits us. HE is the final signatory, remember? Thus, HE knows what's next, after all, He's got our blueprints!

I super love your analogy of life with architecture. It leads me to think that indeed we are responsible for the outcomes of our lives. We had all the needed faculties and capabilities to make our life the way we will it. And thus we need not blame other factors: man-made or otherwise when things don't turn out favorably for us.
However.. Even though we are responsible on how we run our lives, we should take into consideration God's own design for us. We as humans may fail to fathom His plan for us, but we need to feel reassured that what He had for us is bigger and way better than what we had for ourselves.
Thanks for your insight. Happy mylotting!

Amen! Thanks for appreciating my ideas. It's a god-given gift to be able to perceive life in a way He wanted us to see.
Happy planning...am I hearing the wedding bells?(lol)
