Have you ever been to India before? No, I have never been there. However, I did encounter with Indians before when I was still living in Canada many years ago and in Asia as well. From TV and mass media experience, it may created an impression for this country with the following negative characters. It is because the TV always described this country as a place which is full of poor people, dirty, injustice, full of hatred and conflicts, suffering, smells and all kinds of discrimination among their own people as well.Frankly speaking, I am not sure whether it is true or not, but it will make a tourist will not has a desire to go there for any visit since even the drinking water may also be a problem. However,on the other hand, I do understand that it is also a place that has a long civilized history , wisdom and full of hard work of the East and lots of potential that is still under developed. What is the biggest problem that this country is facing right now? Perhaps you can share with us.I am sure it will open our eyes and see things from a different angle as well.

Wildlittlefan i would suggest you one thing don't give us INDIANS the tips or tell us the negative points because we are living in INDIA & do know the negative points very well. Population off course is the enemy of INDIA. Population of INDIA is increasing like anything. Many of the people are unemployed here due to lack of jobs due to its population. Also there are some negative things like dirt, drinking water, poor people, injustice etc but you must remeber that INDIA earns huge revenue from torurists only.I think you have never been to india & only have seen negative things of it that too on TV you must visit INDIA to see it in actual then only you will know that there are more positive things also that you must know!!!

Oh, don't get me wrong. I have well respect for the people of India. What I was saying in my discussion post was just based on the the past Mass Media experience and yes, I have never been to India before . I would love to if I do have an opportunity to do so and I think it will enrich my life experience through a trip to different countries.Well, I think there will always be a problem in everywhere of this planet, earth. That's why more communication and better understanding is needed between people to people , nation to nation as well. As long as we are living in this world, we should always seek peace but not conflict as well. I think India do have many good things even I haven't been there before such as their space technology is among one of the pioneer in the world.Their long time history and their wisdom towards Maths are certainly the strength of this country that nobody can deny in this world.Anyway, I hope India will have a better future and people in India will live in happiness all the times.

I have a lot to say here. But first I'll say that India has problems like any other country trying to be modernized (and westernized )like the rest of the world. I've went to school with Indians and an IndiUgandan. You see Wildlittlefan, I've seen how people in my country stereotype other people. As Europeans discovered and dominated non European countries, they stereotyped its inhabitants. I must say that they stereotype themselves too. But if you look in the movies of the fifties and sixties, you will see the stereotyping of Chinese, Indians, Blacks, etc. Thanks to the movies, an uninformed person would think that every Oriental person acts like this, and every Black acts like that, every Mexican acts like this and so do the South Americans whoever they are, and every Jewish person is like this, and all American Indians are like that, ... We are so messed up by the stereotypes, that when we visit a place and see the bad part, we forget the good part and say, these people are like this. So if I go to India, I expect to see slums and when I do, then I say that all India is like this. Of course that is not true. The truth is, every country in this world has poor people, injustice, etc.

Hello, Rob. It is you again.I think we do need to support each other whether we are from different countries or not. However, there are still some history behind each country when they have conflict in the past and sometimes plus some bad experience between people from different country background as well.I hope we all can try to understand each others and we all can open to others when people want to get know more about our countries. From my experience, each people from each country may either have their own self-pride or low-self esteem as well. Both of them can cause problems for others when building up relationship. I remember some bad experience for myself when I was in Canada where I can meet people from all over the world , just like your country USA, Rob. I remember I was applying a job in an Italian restaurant within my city. When I walk-in and ask if there is job opening at the moment. The Italian look at me with a discriminate eye-sight from my top to my toes.then he said : Look, I don't understand you and you don't understand me.How can I give you a job!"That's is a very poor experience for me.I could feel that the guy said that just because I was an Asian and not because of anything else.Another experience was that: I once walked into an Indian Embrass office in the city and asked for some material to do my University school work regarding to a project. The officer who came up and asked us whole bunch of Questions such as why do you want to know our country?I have nothing to say about my country to you.And words like that made me feel that the guy was not friendly at all and don't feel like to encounter any outsider as well. He really gave me an impression that my country is so high than another country in the world and you guys will never be able to understand my country and I won't tell you a thing.Well, I felt that he wasn't friendly and another impression was that. Well, "big deal", I don't have to do this project and I can choose another topic then. These were some of the bad experiences I had. I think we shouldn't be over sensitive on the issue of discrimination from others . Sometimes it is just the person or his or her character and there were times it was only our own feeling and it may not be true. But still,we just can't avoid the fact that there are always people like that in the world with strong racism problem.Anyway, I think as long as we exists in this world, we just can't escape from experience like that and perhaps we can just change our won attitude towards those issues and experience but not intend to change others. We can't change others anyway.Thank you for checking out my comment and my feeling on this issue.......and happy mylot, Rob.

India has hit the billion mark, not long ago,in population. It amazes me because so many woman have babies that don't survive! I know in some states or provinces they have tried married couples just to have one child like they do in China. They have an over population problem and alot of poperty! So many poor people in unbelievible living conditions! No clean water! Little food! It is digusting and I can't believe India doesn't seem to be doing enough or anything to help these people! Is is truly inhumane!

Well as in response said that population is the problem of India, no population of India is not a problem, its a power now. The main problem of India is corruption, at every level corruption is there, that is why rich becoming more rich and poor becoming more poor. Mango people got frustated because of corruption, and thinks are very costly now that ordinary people is facing problem in running their life.

earth - Since we are all living in this place, we need to support each other.
Yes, corruption is also a problem for lots of countries as well. When there is corruption, there won't be any justice and righteousness in the society. There are many poor people in this world and the distribution of wealth is just not equal and the poor people and the grass root groups are always suffer for all these. There are items the rich people will say that we do work hard as well and the poor should be grasp every opportunity for better education and create wealth like we did as well.Unfortunately, the poor people sometimes just don't have the opportunity for better education in some society. The rich people will always get the best job not just because they have better education and most of time, just because they have better connection. I think the rich and the poor will always be two opposite groups and they will always look at each group with a different mind set. Will there be real harmony in the society with two polar always exists ? I think it is going to be hard especially when the economy is not good at some periods of time.I think the government of each society should do something more practically, rather than create more jobs alone.Well, I hope the people of India can experience breakthrough after a a certain period of time , so that they will see a better India and people can live with happiness in this country.Happy mylot.

i have read numerous articles about India and it seems that population and cleanliness of the environment had been an issue for years. it's population is billion wherein i see that their way of living is quite simple that too many citizens are in poverty. maybe they should learn to control the continuous boom of their number because there is no doubt that population is always a factor for every country.

I also have never been to INdia but my uncle is there and told me that yes there are poor people there and with that maybe one of their problem is that they are over populated. But my views are not that concrete since I've never been there. We should be there to really have an impression on what's their problem? Only citizens of India can answer your quieries. The media sometimes would just have a news that are not that accurate.

Well the Population is to Big and Growing. The People of India need to Practice Birth Control. I Think over a Billion People Live Their. I know India and Pakistan need to Unite and Help in Poverty and Housing Issues. As People are Hungry and Thirsty. In Some Areas Indians Bath and Use the Water for All Kinds of Waste Disposal. That is Very Unhealthy to Drink.
