Yes, it's possible to be in a state above the outside noise & have a very good meditation at the same time, but you should practice in silence for quite some time to begin with. You need a very good guide & method as well. It also helps if you are part of a group of like-minded practitioners. Unfortunately, I cannot teach you how to do so, because I'm not where you are now. If you wish, I can put you in touch with great practitioners who are local to you & are prepared to help you greatly on your journey. They will not ask for anything in return from you ever & you may practice with them or alone for as long as you wish, leaving at any time you choose without fear of being pursued, etc.

Though I do not meditate, my understanding is that it is most effective when we have quite and calm surroundings. Somehow I feel this has to be truth because noise can interrupt us and we would concentrate more on the noise surrounding us.

I have tried meditation without much success. This is because meditation takes discipline and is a skill so it like any other skill requires practice to be good at it and in reference to the question it would be possible to meditate in a noisy area if you had enough discipline and had become good enough at meditation through practice.

Yes, anything is possible if you just put your mind into it. If you just concentrate- the mind is quite powerful. I haven't really done it myself but I am sure it is possible. Just concentrate.

Grace beta
It is very difficult to concentrate mind even in a lonely, cool place, our mind and thinkings keep flying like wild racing horses, and imagine what will happen to you or me in a noisy area?
But there are experts, who can do it in a very very noisy place, they have masterd the art..
Thank you so much for sharing
Enjoy life to fullest.

In fact, it is not hard to meditation in a noisy area. For me, I can do everything that I want, no matter where am I. I always learn while listening music with headphones in my ears. My friends are confused with this, but I just can do it. I always put headphones into ears for several hours, but I don't know which song I've listened.Even I've listned my MP5 for several months of the same songs, I still don't know what songs I have.Doesn't it strange? But I just can do it.

i do not meditate but my job ask to concentrate in a noisy place. so i can say that i can think even the place is noisy. maybe i got used with it already. although i have to say that i am not sure when it comes to meditation if that can be possible. it also depends on how good you are when it comes to meditation.
