Have you ever looked back at old pictures of yourself and were surprised at how you used to look? I know I've gone through many changes in my life. I was an awkward child.. I always had terrible hair cuts and we couldn't afford to buy me nice clothes very often. Many of the pictures I see of myself as a kid I'm wearing extremely beat up clothes.. and they were probably purchased that way. My late teen and early adult years weren't too bad. I usually dressed nicely and did my hair nice.. back then I had the money to spend on myself like that and actually cared enough to look good. After the twins were born I gained a lot of weight and didn't have the money to spend on myself.. nor did I really care how I looked.. you moms know how it is not having time or energy to take care of yourself properly. So sometimes I am shocked at some of my old pictures. Over the past week some of my old friends have been uploading pictures of me and my first son on Facebook. Most of these are pictures I've never seen (in one pic I actually had to ask if that was my son.. I wasn't sure.. is that sad?) Well today my friend uploaded a pic of me and OMG!! I loved the pic so much I had to make it my profile picture on Facebook (I was looking for an excuse to replace the one of me and hubby from Christmas time, LOL). My comment on the picture on Facebook says "Hot Damn.. that was me?" yeah.. I looked good! Wish I still looked that way, LOL. Take a look..

Yes, I look good in that picture too.. but I don't often do my hair and make up like that anymore. I just don't have the time or energy. That picture was taken for a special occasion.. it was hubby's company Christmas party and I bought the dress special and did my hair all pretty. Normally I look like a bum, LOL.

I have some older pictures I really like, and they often are special occasions. It is good to know we can clean up and look nice.

Yeah.. you're right there. I just wish my special occasions happened more often so I'd have more nice pictures of myself. I don't think I've had my pic taken since Christmas and I really need to replace some of my avatars, LOL.

I haven't even had any kids and I look back and think how could I have let myself get bigger as I used to think I was then but, if I could change now to be as slim as I was then I would be made up! Sometimes that jolt from the past is what we need to help us on our way!

Well, I am sure there are pictures around of me that would make me shutter, and then there are pictures out there of me that do look good. I know my profile picture on here is over 5 yrs. old, so need to maybe update it? The one of me on Facebook is my husband and I back right after we bought this house. But it can be interesting looking at old pictures and remembering or not wanting to remember those times as well.

I was a cute little girl--Mom loved to dress me up in cute outfits, or play with my hair. Then it ended abruptly when I got glasses just six weeks before the end of third grade. They were those ginormous frames from the early 80s, and when your overall face is small like mine was, they were a big DON'T! Then the dreaded word: braces. I gave my mom an ultimatum: I either got contacts ASAP or I wouldn't be going to school. Guess mom believed me cause I was fitted that week! But I still felt goofy--boys didn't like me. I remember seeing a picture of me with our winter track team and I looked OK. Almost cute even. But it wasn't until my new hairdresser Stephanie cut my hair differently and I saw a picture of myself on a trip AND DIDN'T RECOGNIZE THE BEATIFUL WOMAN AS ME that I began to rethink things. My friend Debbie took my current profile picture on Facebook in May 2010 and I look pretty cute in it. I'm fairly hard on myself, always finding faults (imagined or otherwise), but I think that as a woman, I'm harder on myself than I should be.

I never liked having my picture taken much.. but now I wish I had more pics of myself just to see how much I've changed over the years. Funny how that works.. At least I have loads of pics of my kids! It's still fun to go back and look at those and see how much they've changed.

I don't think you look too far off from then as you do today. 12 yrs does make some changes to us I'm afraid... I know I don't always feel I'm as old as I am, though my body feels 50yrs older than I am at other moments. still a nice pic!

Well there has certainly been a lot of changes.. mainly in my weight, having gained a ton then lost a ton then put a bit back on. I'm slightly heavier now than I am in my avatar pic.. but probably only 10-20 pounds heavier. I keep saying I'm going to get back to the gym.. but each week I feel too overwhelmed with everything I've got going on.. ugh!

I've got very few photos where I think I look good, but the ones that really make me cringe are the ones when I was a child when I insisted on wearing National Health Servie blue plastic framed glasses. Your photo then looks good, but you look good in the more recent profile pic too.

I think under the right circumstances I can look great. I have good features.. I just don't bother to do much with myself most days. I pull my hair back and throw on whatever clothes are lying around.

I said the same thing recently! I recently re-connected with a few friends I had in gradeschool on FB. And some of them posted pictures of us when we had some programs in school. Whoa!! That was me?? I couldn't believe it! Unfortunately, I didn't look good or anything. Just an awkward skinny little boy.

I have a lot of pictures of me.. and looking at them never surprises me.. probably because I've seen them a number of times, know they're there and what they look like. When I see a picture of myself that I've never seen before or hadn't seen in a long time, that's when I'm surprised.

I don't have very much pictures of myself looking real good either. You do look real good in your profile pic and that picture! What is wild is when I was a kid I thought I was ugly. When I look at those pictures I think I was pretty.I wish I thought that then.My parents never told me I was pretty and nobody else did either so I didn't think I was.My parents were raised to not even say I love you. They never heard it growing up so they didn't feel comfortable saying it as adults. When my dad passed away I told my mom that we need to start saying I love you to eachother every chance we can because you don't know when the last chance to do it will be.For therapy when we were at the viewing of his body I told my mom and sister for us to tell him that we loved him because that was going to be the last time we would beable to do so seeing him.So, we all did. I know it sounds weird but it did help. My mom, sister and me have been saying it to eachother since.

Yeah, that's happened to me a lot. My dad was a photographer when I was younger, so literally had hundreds of pictures when my siblings and I were younger. We got less and less pictures as we grew older since my dad got another job. My usual reaction when I see my twelve-year-old self is "Wow! I was that thin?" I gained some weight through high school and college.

We all do. That's when we start to slow down and not be as active. As we get older we tend to gain more and more.

Yeah.... looking into old photos of yourself really tells you about yourself of the past. Recently, I found an old photo of my high-school photo, and when I saw this picture from 12 years ago, I was like, "Wow.... I did look good in this picture!" I was shocked, but that's how it goes.

I have had my moments. Right now I see pictures of me and it looks like my mother. Not good at all. I have to lose some weight. I would rather look like my daughter.

I can honestly say I've never done that. While I've seen how I've grown in my life, I can always see myself as me in those pics. Last year my cousin (the youngest of the five granddaughters) posted a pic of the five of us in 1988. Sis age 10 Cousin age 8 Me age 6 Cousin age 5 Cousin age 3. We were at Grandma and Grandpa's celebrating cousin's.5th birthday. We were so cute!!!

I also have those moments in my life, most especially when I was growing up. My mom usually would dress me with those weird clothings and make me look as if I were in my 30's! I don't really know why but it seemed to her that I'm not a kid but an old hag! Whew! I would certainly say that the fashion traffic would surely stop me and I would be one of those people who need a fashion turnover! But well, I guess that's life, we always go through that phase and I'm glad that is over, but the memories really are mostly happy and I'm pretty sure that my mom was just very busy but didn't mean to make me feel old. hahahaha I do love looking at old photos, it brings back a lot of good memories. Have a great MyLot experience!

Hi there, Wow thanks for sharing the picture of you and your son. As we all get older our appearances tend to change. Do keep in mind that you did not change in a bad way at all. I am looking at the picture and the one in your profile and you are a very pretty lady.
