It's the unofficial start of summer in the U.S. and I was wondering, do people find it more or less difficult to write in the summer months? I personally find it easier to get thoughts to flow, but harder to commit to the action of writing. The beautiful days call me outside and even with a laptop, I'd rather be walking or bike riding, or something active than typing on a keyboard.

Summer or winter doesn't really matter to me. It is fun to spend time outside, but during the afternoons the tempurature climbs to near 100 degrees (and it's not even the hot months). Writing is something I'm trying to make a career out of so staying focused is very important. Although, I do understand the draw to go hiking or horse backriding, etc. I try to have a schedule and stick to it, so I know when I should be writing and when I can be goofing off.
But, I suppose in some ways it is more difficult to write during the summer. :)

You must live somewhere where winter isn't harsh. Where I live, we get snow in the winter and being outside writing would probably involve losing a few fingers. So, when summer comes and I can be outside, I want to be. However, if it gets too hot, I'd probably want to find a nice cool pool or go indoors.
You're right about discipline. Without it, you're lost. I think even if you write as a hobby, you have to have the commitment to finish what you start no matter what.

Writing in summer months might be easier because I can get a lot of inspiration from the beautiful nature. I can take my laptop to the summer house and write about things that have impressed me.

Mother Nature is great inspiration and she is in fine form in the summer. I love the way the sunlight and the sky changes in summer. In winter you really only get a couple of different skies, but in the summer, the sky goes through all sorts of changes.

I find it much easier to write in the summer time because I don't have any school, nor do I have any priorities to fulfill. There's much more things to write about, I can journal almost every day. I can write about how it is or all my summer activities like going to the beach or six flags.

There is that part of it. When the days are long and the weather good, the ideas come to you much more easily, I find. And if you're in a position where summer is your vacation time, you have a lot more time to do writing. However, if you're in a position where summer is just another season, it becomes harder to choose between enjoying the weather and writing.
