What Is the Best Way to Get Money when Unemployed?

A friend in my church has been unemployed for a year now, and I'm thinking that our church would be better-served if members of the church help her to earn some money.
And the first thing I thought of was the blogging-group that got ME started making money on the Internet (and it's not myLot ... although NEITHER the blogging-group nor myLot give ME a substantial income, the blogging-group has made me a lot more than myLot---at least by "the world's" count).
Because--with the blogging-group (and possibly with myLot too, if one focuses on it)--one gets paid WHEN READERS VISIT THEIR PART OF THE BLOGOSPHERE---even if all one does is copy-and-paste uncopyrighted content from somewhere else!
But that's just the best place this un-schooled Gen-X'er knows of; is it better to get money some 'grown-up' way I'm not thinking of?

Being unemployed for a little a year myth, the internet is not going to provide her with enough to substantiate. You know me by now and though I am a fighter and willing to do whatever it takes the internet a lone especially for someone new will not generate enough for her to be able to even pay rent.
I am not saying she cannot try the internet for the added dollars, by all means but being unemployed she will need more then this, see the internet is for those looking to make EXTRA money not needed money. In order to call it EXTRA one has to be able to plenty to begin with.
So my suggestion is to absolutely continue scouring for an offline job where if it means pert-time and or something a lower level standard in the interim, tell her to do it so she can at least have a roof over her head.
Do send her my regards as I if anyone knows the road she is facing, not an easy one nor one easily able to get through.

Then make sure she signs up to online earning sites where you with the more experience can guide her to assure they are not scam site. Consistent payment proofs, site reputation, etc. etc.

Oh, she's not really facing 'a road': her husband has a good job, they own their house (plus another property-or-two besides).
I'm guessing it's more like--kinda like me--she just needs something to fill her time that doesn't seem like she's "wasting time."

Can she clean house? Can she cook? does she like old people??? I bet if you asked around someone in that church needs a babysitter or someone to sit with a sick relative. It just depends on what she can do and is willing to do .

This is a great response. There is so much need in the world as well as in the church. I think about how could one start making money today. Go cut someone's grass, clean a house but when I mention these types of things, I get no response. If I was hungry and needed work, I would get out there and hustle......that's just me.....

Well, as I am sure you well know it is hard to earn anything in reality doing things online like from Writing unless you are talented and know how to manuever around to where you can make a decent amount from doing so. I know that also a lot of times unless it is a job, a lot of things can also take time, and a lot of them take money as well. I know that Selling things is a Good way to make some Extra money if you have talents you can use in this way. In reality it is endless and hope things have gotten a little better for them by now.

I am also unemployed for almost 5 years now since I migrate from my home country but I am earning steady income bye working online. Being unemployed is not a reason of not earning. There are lots of places in the internet that we can earn money. We can sell something in ebay or etsy and that can help us earn.

Sorta.
ALL money (in America, anyway) is "from the government"---mostly in the form of 'loans taken out to pay for property & -salaries.' "Earning" is really a fun/complicated way of convincing people to 'give' the money (they got by 'convincing people to give out of 'what they convince people to give out of ... ''etc').

Not exactly. Lots of ways we can 'let people give us money.' Never forget that, and you'll appreciate the money the way God intended it.

im sorry for your friend :( yes i think that maybe with a blog she could earn money. i created a blog and started to post things but is impossible to have a blog by yourself. it gives a lot of work if you want a lot of people to see it. but if she doesnt want to create a blog you could tell her about your blog group. and she could start writing there and maybe get paid then^^ i think that would be a good way to help her. other good way, if you and your friends have the time for it, is like buy a cool parfum and sell "those papers with numbers where you put the person cellphone number so if she or he is the winner you contact them". here in my country in school we usually sell those papers with numbers like 1 dollar each and if someone wins the prize we are selling we give it to them. for example the parfum costs like 30 dollars but if you sell 100 papers 1 dollar each you win 100 dollars^^ so you can try :) some people buy to help bcs is usually in school that we do that to have enough money to go to a trip but you can do to help your friend :)

The 'parfum lottery' sounds a little scammy, but I could get her in touch with one of my friends who sells AVON (kind of a make-up that people sell by mail). Thanks!

It all depends on what she can do. Does she has any diploma, or knowledge in a subject? Maybe she can give out private lessons for elementary students?

Personally like many others have said if she is needing the type of income like you earn while working for others, to the Best of my knowledge there is very little that is legit online besides maybe one or two companies that you can work from home and get paid an hrly wage from. And then you have to meet certain requirements first to qualify. But like others have stated here, maybe she needs to find ways to sell herself in the meantime like cleaning house, babysitting, etc. until something better comes along. The job world is rough out there right now, but if she continues to have Faith something is bound to come up.

There are churches in my area that help their members where these things are concerned. There is the option of looking to people within the church that need things done at their home or know people that do. There are also business owners within the churches to turn to or at least people who know other people.
If I were in this particular situation, I might try babysitting or housecleaning. I might also go to a temporary service and see if they had something that I could do, even if it were just for a little while. These places can help people get their foot in the door. I am also not above mowing yards.
