I have been to the US several times throughout the years and have admired this country that is more like a continent. I have my favorite places and others where I wouldn´t care much to return. I specially love for different reasons Florida, Wisconsin, New York, Washington D.C., California, Nevada (Las Vegas)and Colorado. I like some because of it´s natural beauty, others for their manmade buildings, museums and cultural places. Have you travelled much through the US? Do you have place that you care especially about? Why? Share! And, if you can,, also share pictures of your most loved places.

Hi marguicha, yes US is a continent like country. I have desire to visit that country. I have some relative there. America is a country of immigrants. The natives are minority there. They are called Red Indians. But they are neither red nor Indians. However America is a country of diversity. Very interesting country. But my desire will not be fulfilled. Because I have no so much financial support to visit a faraway country. I\'m also interested to share pictures.

I was just answering another friend from India how difficult it is to travel so far. I would love to visit India, but it is absolutly imposible due to being too far away. You are right about the word Indians as names for ameican natives. It was Columbus who put that name as he was seeking for India to bring spices to Europe. He never knew that he had discovered a new world and that´s why America wasn´t called after him. The United States is a very interesting country, although I think personally that calling it "America" is as wrong as calling the native "indians". I live in Chile, South America and in North America there are two other giant countries: Mexico and Canada. All of them are very interesting.

Marguicha was the name of a peruvian indian girl in a wonderful book written by the peruvian writer Ciro Alegria. The book is called Broad and Alien is the World and it is about the life of the peruvian people in the highlands (altiplano).

Our Mobile Home in Texas - We spend 5 months each winter in Texas USA.
I'm a Canadian born in Canada where I've lived most of my life, until about 12 years ago when we first went to Texas with our Travel Trailer for a winter holiday. After a few winters in the trailer, we enjoyed it so much we bought a Mobile in an RV Park in Alamo Texas, and we have been driving the 2000 miles each way in our car ever since. We enjoy the mobile very much and its like a second home for us. See the picture of our Mobile Home in Texas.

You have shown us a beautiful picture of your Mobile home. Do you go from Canada to Texas every year or do you travel to other parts of the US as well? I know that you have to cress a lot of states to reach Texas but, do you stop on the way? Tell us!

We take 4 days to reach South Texas from Ontario. We drive 500 miles each day stopping at travel inns each night. We depart Ontario, the end of October, and arrive back in Ont again, early April. We go on the interstate Thruways, and usually bypass most cities. Its fun to journey south in the fall and see the summer return as you go. In the spring its sad, because the Texas Bluebells are blooming along the road as we leave TX, and everything turns to winter as we travel north to Canada.

I was born in the United States and have lived in the same state all of my life. I have been to a few states for vacation stays and other states I have just traveled through. I live in Minnesota and have travelled to Hawaii, Nevada (Las Vegas, of course), South Carolina (Myrtle Beach), Florida, Texas, Illinois (Chicago) and our neighboring state of Wisconsin. I think I got them all. When we drove to Florida, we drove through certain states such as Alabama and maybe we stopped to eat or for a rest stop or maybe we just drove through. When I flew to Ireland, we had a layover in Newark, New Jersey. So, like the states I have driven through, I can say that I have been a guest there, but have not been able to take time to tour fun spots. I still would like to visit many more places here in the United States and am hoping to do so sometime in the future.

I know that in your country, you just have to pass a lot of things when you are going some place or else you would never reach your destination. I remember that the only thing we saw at St. Louis, Missouri, was the awesome bridge. We were passing through but just had to spend a couple of hours there.

I have traveled a lot through the US several times along my life. But after a while, I miss my home, my people, my way of living. Thr US is an interesting country, but by no means the only one that is interesting. I love to travel and love to learn as much as I can from different cultures and subcultures, always present in a country.

well, I live in the U.S. and I haven't been to all 50 states, tho my sister has been to all or at least NEARLY all of them. Now, I think the Oregon coast is one of the most beautiful places I've been, and Crater Lake was awesome! However, like you, I liked the different places for different reasons. But Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey has special affection because that is where we used to go because my grandfather had a shore house there. When I was a child we would spend 2 weeks in NJ almost every summer.

It happensd that way to me with a place my parents took us many times when we were little. It was a beach near the city where my father was born. It was full of people we knew so it was cozier than just a trip.

When I was a kid, we traveled by car to visit relatives and I loved seeing the US that way. My favorite spot as a kid was near Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina. Even as a young 'en I knew that was beautiful. I finally got to see the Grand Canyon about 10 years ago, but it was in February and soooooooooooo cold. I had to rush outside and take a picture, then rush back in the gift store to get warm. I have to see it in better weather.

I have traveled the US, but there are still a ton of places I would love to go and see. I have been further south and west more than I have been north. The furthest north I have been has been to Indiana. I can't think of a favorite because each place I have been has had it's own special thing that captured me. I went to California and Las Vegas twice..I would like to go back there..I didn't get to see near what I wanted..lol. I have been to all the states that line the southern coast from Florida to Texas. That was a beautiful and interesting drive. It also happened to be during Mardi Gras, so I spent just a little extra time in Louisiana..lol. I love the south est coast too. Not so much for the beaches as for the atmosphere..it's oddly tranquil to me. The beaches I like are in the south..Florida. I think so far my favorite is Daytona, but Panama City's white sand was amazing. We are hoping to go to Siesta Keys sometime in the next couple of years. I will have to look for a pic of me somewhere..I don't have them on my flash drive.

You know what, I actually live here, but I didn't go to much places within the United States. Definitely I love go to Florida, like Orlando, and Miami, Daytona beach. I also like to go to Las Vegas, although I only be there once. But I don't want to hang around the casino much, since I want to save my wallet from broke. I also want to go to Seattle, New york, and California, etc......

The times I visited there with my husband, we rented a car and stayed either with friends or in motels. It´s an unexpensive way to travel and you can make sandwichs to spend less on food. I have gone 5 times to Disneyworld and I don´t get tired of it.

I have visited many places, but all of them in th western Hemisphere as it´s very expensive to go to other places. I was lucky to live for a year and a half at the US when I was little while my father worked there. Then I sent my two girls for a year abroad (one to England and one to the US) so that they both learnt another language and saw other things.

Hello my dear friend Marguicha. When I was 20 years old at the start of my trip around the world I traveled to California like LA and San Diego. Then I traveled to Hawaii which I loved because it is tropical. I was 29 years old on my second and third trip to the USA. Those times I went back to California. I traveled up to San Francisco, Santa Cruise and Santa Barbara. I stayed in backpacker hostels in dorms. I was on my way to and from New Zealand. I traveled to Vancouver last summer and so wanted to pop down to Seattle. However it wasn't possible. I hope to visit New York, Boston, cape Cod, Washington and Florida in the future. Hug.

There are so many places we can now see in part when watching TV shows and movies now! I have never been to India and for many decades the only thing I thought I knew about your country had to do with adventure fiction books written by Emilio Salgari, a writer who never set his feet in India. Now, thinking about those books I read in my youth, I realise that maybe they helped me wanting to learn more about a world that is many times too far for me to go. We travelled a lot with my husband when he was alive and after the children´s education was complete. The United States was nearer and less expensive and we just rented a car, bought a map and followed roads. Have a nice day!

Hi marguicha I was born and raised in the US and I have traveled to many places in the within the US. I will tell you though my ultimate place is Wisconsin. Been there at least 100 times if not more. Have been going there since my early teens. Something about Wisconsin gives me a real wholesome family feeling. Though I do not have family there. I love city in the center of downtown Wisconsin and sitting on their bench and watching people just walk by. I use to take my kids there 2 times a year for years and they were sort of sick of it. Funny though my son went to The University of Wisconsin at Madison and Graduated there with a 4.0 GPA and did not want to come home. lol He graduated a year ago and still to date he has gone back 5 times. I also love Tennessee which I have been to two times and also get the same feeling I get while in Wisconsin. I reformatted my computer so currently do not have pics to share.

The first place in th US that I saw was Madison, Wisconsin. We lived there for a year and a half when I was 11 years old. Madison has changed in these over 50 years. But it still has places that time hasn´t touched. Perhaps it is because it is a city that more or less centers in the university, but the old buildings, the beautiful parks and the awesome lakes are still there.
