When no one understands you

Have you ever been to a place where nobody understands you? People don't understand what you say simply because you don't speak nor understand their language.
It happened to me when I went to Japan. I could only speak Filipino and English, yet almost all of the Japanese people speak Japanese only. Of the hundreds of Japanese I met, I only came to talk to five who can barely talk English. I exerted so much effort on using sign language so I would be understood but it was all in vain. It really is very difficult to be in a place where people don't understand your language and vice versa.

hahahahaha!
yeah it happened to me as well. went to japan for a vacation and silly me didn't even bother to read up some english-nihonggo translation books. it was quite the challenge in the first two days, stayed in tokyo for five days, but when my friend gave me the book that she has used since she has stayed there, everything was a breeze. i couldn't pronounce those japanese words as well but it was enough for me to have a working conversation while there.
i've learned my lesson that one time. i doubt that i'll be visiting japan soon after what had happened, god bless japan, but right now, i'm brushing up on my nihonggo.
arigatou gozaimasu! (thank you very much in japanese!)

Japanese people are good but they can hardly understand English.
Hope you would be able to visit Japan again and I am sure Japan will be okey again after what happened.
