What do you think of after you've been sick? I mean food wise. My doctor told me the reason I have been feeling so out of sorts and tired lately is that I still have a viruse from when I had my cold about three weeks ago. So I am on anti-biotics and have been sleeping alot. I woke up today hungry and my first thought was a big, juicy cheeseburger. I wonder. What food do you think of after along time without eating much?

Usually I think about chocolate, but of course it's not the best thing to have. If you've been ill. Although it does help raise your blood sugar a bit more. Usually when I'm ill, I always get my mum to cook me porridge and for some reason, after having it, I always recover very quickly!

Porridge is good for you. Stick to your ribs and all that.

I think it depends on what you have been sick with. You may be anemic, and that is why you really want the big juicy burger. I always eat yogurt when I have been on antibiotics, though

Well, I had a BK double stacker with cheese. Yum! I wonder if I am not anemic. Doctor took blood so we will soon see.

I would just rest and take your meds. I used to get bronchitis about every three months. We had fires around here and I was allergic. It got really old being so sick at three month intervals. THen I got pneumonia and was sick for a couple of months but never got bronchitis again.

hi celticeagle I usually think of meatballs and sp aghetti that I used to make myself with Barelli's spaghetti plus that had whole wheat spaghetti with protein and omega 3 and 6 oils and their sauce with extra garlic, Basel and oregano and mama mias italian frozen meatballs. it is so good and here we get nothing like that at all.that was what I often made after having been sick. lol lol right now a big juicy cheeseburger sounds terrific to me. y um I am getting hungry I guess.

I like meatballs but not real big on spaghetti. I used to fix it for my daughter because she loved it. Why are you so hungry? DOn't they feed you?

hi celtic oh yes they feed us but after i got that s uper high blood sugar I was put on a do ubled dose of metformin once in the morning and once in the evening so I find myself going low a lot about this time in the evening close to 9 p.m. so am leanring how to handle the bigger dose of metformin and how to eat without highs or losws its a ' balancing act and when you perfect it you feel as healthy as anyone who is not a diabetic. lol

Anything that isn't moving. But if I was vomiting, I find that the food I ate right before that isn't something I want to eat any more.

hi celticeagle! first off, hope you get well soon. a cold can really dampen one's spirit. about your inquiry, i'm with you with the cheeseburgers! i actually just responded to another discussion and i did mention that i'll be going home early to prepare some. not that i'm sick or anything but i agree that a good juicy burger with all the condiments and sidings makes one set aside all feelings of sickness, viruses or not! hahahaha!!!! another comfort food that i consider when sick is dark chocolate. read that chocolates are good for the brain and body so dark chocolates get my vote. i prefer the dark ones over the regular variety ones. anyway, do get better soon. cheers!

I hope to feel better soon. Thanks. Just keeps hanging on. I think hamburgers and chocolate has it hands down so far.

There's not really any specific type of food I think about after I've been sick. I usually just have a craving for random things or I feel like I want to just eat anything and everything in the kitchen.

That sounds good and I haven't even been sick..lol. The last time I was sick, I thought about O Charley's loaded potato soup...that stuff us awesome. I think about it quite a bit even when I'm not sick.

Sick is always a good excuse to eat, huh?

Hmm. It depends on what I'm sick with. But usually it's something opposite of what the doctor had told me to eat. Like I guess I wasn't really 'sick' but when I had my wisdom teeth surgery, I couldn't have crunchy foods, but all I ate was soft foods and after I was healed, I wanted as many crunchy things, like popcorn that I could find!
