I personally believe that a person is born gay. I believe this because every child that I have watched grow up(and I thought that they would be gay)turned out just as thought they would have. I feel like if a little boy is feminine at the age of 8 or nine, there is no "manning up". And if a girl is a flat out tomboy in high school, men are not in her near future. Now I don't want to start an argument here, but I would like to know your personal opinion.

I think it can be a genetical effection as well as how much of male and female hormones a human being have. A combination of it. Some have a more developed feminine side or a strong masculine side. Either way we are human beings deserve respect.

I do think that a persons sexuality is a part of them from birth, but I don't think that a boy being feminine or a girl being a tomboy are signs of being gay.
some gay men are very masculine, some "girly" men are straight. my husband and stepdad are both quite camp and sensitive. both straight.
and some gay women are very girly.
lots of girls are tomboys, but not gay. I think a lot of what is considered feminine is societal ideals, rather than a natural part of a womans personality.

I do thank you for responding. But every single time that I thought this, I have been correct. I have known girls that I went to high school with that were tomboys and are married now. But most of the guys are gay.

Years ago the word gay meant that we felt joyful and happy, now it is refers to something quite different! born gay? the answer to that one is in the lap of the gods. I know of people who have been married for years and then declared that they were gay. Years ago homosexuality was a crime! how silly. With the amount of unisex clothing that is stocked in the shops many of us dress the same anyway. i do feel that you have a point, maybe there is a difference in the chromosomes or something?

Maybe yes and maybe no. I guess I'll stay in between, because there's a saying about a gay being a girl soul trapped in a man's body and vice versa. If one believe in reincarnation then maybe this is true. But from most of my observation, sometimes its how a child was brought up or it depends on his/her environment. I had a friend before, she has 3 siblings, all boys. Maybe because of this, she turned out to be a tomboy. And I know someone also, only boy in his family. Growing up, he has his mother and sisters to care for him because his father was working abroad, he turned out gay.

Thank you for responding. But once again, I disagree. One day though, I hope people are more open minded about this.

Gay people are quite a mystery. Maybe it's because of the environment they grew up with, like my neighbor he is the only man in his family since he was 5 he got 2 older sister and a younger one. He grew up in a feminine world now he's also a sister to his sisters. But with those gays that grow in a different environment than my neighbor I don't know how they become what they are now. Oh and by the way have you tried to research the origin or histories of gays and lesbians? I might tried to do a research on that later. :)

I think they are born that way. To those who think people are raised that way, why would people do that to themselves? Why would they choose to be something that people hate and beat up and sometimes kill just for being different? Just to set it striaght I do not hate gay/lesbian people, infact one of my best friends is homosexual.
Also people think if a homosexual couple raise a child, that child will be a homosexual. Again, if that were true, then where would homosexuals come frome? There fore they must be born that way in my opinion.

Hi. maishaybrown. A person would think that, but it may not be really true. My cousin was a tomboy when she was a teenager. Now, she has blossomed into a beautiful woman that has been married twice. Both of her marriages were to a male. She has went out only with guys. I have never heard that she has involved herself into dating women. My cousin is very far from being gay. Her younger sister on the other hand is definitely a tomboy. She even looks like a boy now. We all have been told that she is gay too. When her sister was younger, she was very feminine like. She had feminine qualities. So, I can understand where you are coming from but this theory can be debated against.

Thank you so much for responding. BUT, I guess you didn't go to a school where there kids that were hard to figure out if it was a boy or girl?? LOL
