hi friends.
incase i forgot to thank those who reduced the number of matches from the previous tally of 94,thank you very much.
since its finally over and we probably wont talk about it for another year, lets discuss whether its a sucess or failure?
first many felt that this tournament coming just a week after world cup is rather lengthy one.
then the as usual debates on club versus country debate sparked by malinga and some srilankan players and then Mr. Gambhir for playing with shoulder injury and using a banned drug, warne mess with dixit,it had the usual controversis that IPl is famous for.
the most disappointing thing i found is the final stages.
chennai faced the RCB at the league match, then at qualifier 1 and then at the finals and beat them all three times.
i mean when was the last time something so stupid happened?
then the new commentators overwhelming favourite ,the play-offs,literally made to make sure that the bottom 2 teams get knocked out by making them win against all 3 opponents.
then there is the TRP ratings which showed a 25% dip from last year.
ofcourse the partly filled stadiums for the knock out matches due to excessive pricing.
i am not sure but i believe that this IPL is probably the worst of all 3.
to Mr.Modi.You can smile now.

Very good analysis. Lot of untoward things happened during this IPL season. Controversies, unexpected results, good batsmen not keeping up their standard, bowlers like Steyn not bringing up good results, above all the hurricane batting of CSK against RCB all of them stink. IPL 4 may still be considered a success in terms of money spinning, both for the players as well as franchisees. But the game as such can be said to have got a beating. A little correction in your posting of results between CSK and RCB. Also you did not include the decisions of Tendulkar that brought them down!

Opinions differ. Some like it and some do not. This IPL 4 was entertaining to me to watch a match every day and enjoy the suspense. I am not aware of the economics or statistics which says that IPL 4 is not a successful one. Modi will never be able to smile because he is being pushed back to the wall on many issues and this may be a minor one which can make him smile.
have a good day.

Well it think it was accepted to have drop in TRPs and people in the stadium it starting so quickly after the world cup in which India did so well .I think any cricket tournament would have suffered if it started so soon after the world cup
This is year IPL may not have received has much craze has last year but it stilld managed to get decent viewership and crowd .I would say they were reasonably successful considering time was very poor
