Herro I recently bout a new laptop computer. I had two options. The store offered free transfer of all documents, not programs. They wanted to keep both both computers for three days. My other option was to transfer documents myself using memory sticks. Pros for store, insure all documents transfer No tedious copy, transfer delete from old computer Pros for myself I keep both computers and have the use of both Cons: time-consuming Which option would you you have chosen and why? I purchased a new laptop 3 months ago and had the choice of getting the Geek Squad to keep both computers for a couple of days and it would cost me close to $100.00 so I asked how I could do it myself. The young man explained that I could buy a USB cable which connected my old and my new computer the cable came with instructions and it cost $40.00. I went that way and it worked perfectly I was able to transfer all my files and programs from the old lap top to the new and it did not take long. BTW I bought this transfer cable at Best Buy.

That sounds to be easier than my method of flash drives that I got for less than a dollar each. They were 4 and 8mb so they held everything I wanted to transfer.

Herro I thought about the cable, but didn't know where to buy...so did the flash drive. I wish I had done the USB cable but. So much faster. Oh well ;ive and learn Prosperous MyLotting

I'd've called up my geek and let her walk me through it (since I would have NO CLUE how to really do it!) Obviously I would've picked option #2

Transferring files is not hard if one just will take their time.

Hi PJ, I did just this a few months ago but I choose option two as I have some th9ngs on my old set that I did not want to put on the new one. I got some flash drives from an auction site and copied the files to them that I wanted to transfer and did it that way. I wonder who will have the last say here today?

I have try and get it. I just broke the 3 buck bit at CS, first time ever for that with no help from any of the referrals. That is in one month.
