I have been maintaining 3 blogs since I started Triond but decided to consolidate the blogs due the time it takes to manage it. As I was in the process of exporting and importing my blogs, I mistakenly clicked the "Next Blog" option ad was redirected to this blog http://ang-maniniyot.blogspot.com/
At first I though it was an adult blog as the maniniyot reminded me of a similar sounding visayan word that is adult in nature. But as I was about to close the tab, I saw a very beautiful picture of Kim Chiu and browsed the blog. It appears to have been made by a Filipino due as it has posts on the RH Bill and Manny Pacquiao as well.
The bloog has this caption "Pictures I see in my mind of the mundane and the irony of hype and popularity."
So I searched google and found this other blog having the same name: http://angmaniniyot.blogspot.com/ the only difference is the dash which is a photoblog by one Bofill Bernardes.
I am Filipino but I am not familiar with the word "maniniyot" but gleaning what I can from the 2 blogs, I think it has something to do with pictures and photography but I am not sure though...
Does anyone know what the word means?
And what can you say about 2 blogs having similar names and almost identical URLS? Does one suffer from the other?

Yeah it does sound funny and very close to the Cebuano "adult" word. It's good to know that it is the vernacular for Photographer. I never would have guessed that we have an original word for the profession since we usually just convert English/Spanish words into tagalog.
Thanks for the insight.

Hello!
I chuckled when I read your post especially when you mentioned the "similar" term dilemma, anyway, Maniniyot means "photographer". It's an old term used to call a photographer. Here in Davao City there's a group called "The Maniniyot Community" referring to the group of photographers here in the city.
I hope my explanation clarifies your confusion.hehehe.

It is a more common word than i thought it would be. I guess I'm not what you would call "Makata" anyway.
There really is a group that call themselves "The Maniniyot Community" in Davao?
I have a photographer friend in Davao but he never told me about this word, maybe I should give him a call later.
Are you per chance a member of the Maniniyot Community?

If they belong to the same community such as this, it would explain the similar URLs though right? Sorry forgot to inlcude it in the previous answer.

two blogs having almost the same urls... that may either be coincidence or they belong to only one blogger- just ask the blogger him/herself. I've come across the "maniniyot" term when i was in high school, i didn't even know that it was also bad word, but some of my classmates have been using it for fun so i asked what it means- and yes, it means photographer.

It appears like they are written or rather owned by different people. The Photoblog appears to be made by someone really into photography while the one with the - appears more like a regular blog.
If it were me, I would definitely make sure my URLs don't have similarities or too close with other blogs even my own. I think it would affect the searches... But then again I'm not that good with search engines!
I guess it would depend on where you are from, if you are an Ilocano or a Cebuano you would most probably be more familiar with "bad word" version since you grew up hearing it rather than the "photographer" version.
We just have so many dialects that its just confusing sometimes!

Now I am confused. I know it is a Filipino term... But is it Cebuano or Tagalog?
Anyway, as long as it means photographer in either that should be alright right?
Yoyoy Villame! What song was that? I haven't heard that name in ages! I loved his novelty songs!

Hi Shattered,
The term "maniniyot" in cebuano means PHOTOGRAPHER. It do sound similar to an explicit adult word in Visayan, well I am a full blooded Bisaya so I know and very familiar with the word.
Your guess is write it has something to do with pictures and photography, because it's what you call an artist A.K.A. Photographer.
About the blogs, I kind of like the latter, one without a dash, it's better and seems like a blog of one really into photography. It seems to have been maintained and owned by two different persons. Somehow maybe one suffers from the other...

Thans for the information!
I guess it is maintained and owned by two different persons. The latter (no -) appears to be really into photography and it is reflected in the blog.
The first one just seems to find humor in pictures or rather attempts to paint a picture of what's happening in his mind.
I guess neither of the blogs depict the Visayan/Ilocano word. So it must be based on Photographer.
Again tank you.

I am familiar with the Cebuano word as well and it would change this topic from GP to R-18!
Ah! So it is a tagalog word for photographer... I thought it had something to do with pictures and photography due to the nature of the sites... My guess wasn't so far off then!
Thanks for the input!
