our parents have various ways of imposing discipline on us. some parents use hard fast rules, some do it with tender-loving care, some use military style of discipline, so parents allow kids to make mistakes and eventually learn on their own the valuable lessons in life....my parents did a little bit of everything i have stated here...and i guess it did the trick for me... XD
again feel free to write in this discussion, no judgement here, just love and sharing :)

My father is a strict one while my mother is our shield from him.
Strict though our father is, but we can still feel his love for all of us in the family. He would spank us at our butt, with his belt if we lie or didn't follow what he wants us to do. But when he spanks us, it isn't that hard. He simply just want us to instill in our mind , that it will be what he will do when we do wrong.
So i guess, that helped us a lot to grow up disciplined.

I was afraid of my mom when I was a child. She gets angry easily and punishes us of our mistakes by whipping us. My brother even experienced being whipped until the stick broke. My dad was more gentle. I never got a spank from him.
Early on, they trained us to do domestic jobs. We also help in the garden after school and during weekends. Life is hard so it has to be that way. Despite these, I wouldn't exchange them for anyone else.

My parents were very strict a lot of the times but other times they could be easy going. They disciplined us three with spankings and restrictions. Some would call it beatings which they were and rarely did they talk to us about why we did wrong or how it was wrong. We learned through spankings and restrictions mostly but also through guilt trips.

My parents were the same, I think. They spanked me too when necessary. But they rarely, if ever, disciplined me and my siblings for they were both career people. So we were mainly disciplined by our nanny. Mostly scarying tactics. :D

I've been raised on hard discipline. Although I don't think it's perfect, I think it did fine for me. I think that by not-sparing-the-rod, I've learned about life more. On how to deal with all of its ups and downs.
I try to do the same thing with my kids, but I also recognize the fact that a little tender-loving care goes a long way too.

Am proud of the person I am because of my parents and give them all the crtedit.....they have thought me the right manners right from my childhood and today when I look at myself in front of the world I feel that I am a good enough person...They used to scold me for my mistakes and also correct me whenever it was needed....There are a few people who have told my parents that their children are very discilpined and surely they feel proud of us....at a young age itself parents should inculcate good values in their children and it will help....
