I just got back from a 30 hour car trip with my sister, and it was the longest 3o hours of my life! I haven't been on a car trip like that since I was little, and I couldn't find enough to keep me entertained which made it much longer. I read about 10 magazines, and after I had finished those, I was not interested in magazines anymore. I slept a few hours of the trip and drove about 7 hours total. I talked to a few people on the phone and tried to surf the internet but I never had great reception so that only lasted a few minutes. The rest of the time I couldn't figure out what to do, so I am going to be a lot more prepared next time! I flew back and it was a few hours on the plane but it seemed like a lot longer because I had lost interest in magazines and was just anxious to get home!

Longest flight I took was for 15 hours. That was when I went to Korea for my brother's wedding. I slept for about 5 hours of it. Luckily, I had a lot of work I had to get done so I didn't notice time. Longest I had to go without doing something was about 2 hours. I just enjoyed the view outside the airplane's window & had a conversation with the person I was sitting next to. Luckily, I work as a translator for part time. Company I work for gets a lot of work from embassy. They usually post job listing on employee's section of website. When I go on a long trip, I usually try to get a job that I can keep myself busy with & put that travel time to use. I work at a retail place for full time. When I go on a vacation from that job, I usually drive. Usually, I travel alone so I have to drive myself so I don't have to worry about keeping myself busy. Once, I did drive to just outside of L.A with a friend of mine who lives there. He came over to visit & we drove back to his place. That took little over 55 hours, with breaks in between. He had ipad 2 so we took turns playing games, I would play games & write emails when he was driving & he would play games when I was driving. A lot of rest stops along the highways offer free wifi so I got to send out some pre-written emails.

I love travelling! Sometimes, I bring a book with me while travelling especially when I am in airplane. I feel dizzy when reading at cars. Sometimes, I bring out my laptop, and start playing games or just play random musics to keep me entertained. I also love doing sight-seeing especially when travelling through cars. I sight-see like a quarter of the time of my travel. And, most of the time, I sleep. lol. I sleep when I am already bored and not entertained enough. Actually, I love sleeping between travels.

When i was a kid i used to play license plate games and other travel games with my siblings to pass the time. it can get a bit boring for a kid too have to seit too long without doing anything. now that i am older, i just like to sightsee. Your mind can appreciate things differently with age.

The most I have been on a plane was about 16 hours when I flew to Asia. It was an uncomfortable ride which I tried to sleep off unsuccessfully. So, I ended up just watching the update screen and counting down the mileage before we touched down.
Until recently, I had a job going to suppliers back and forth. And when I travelled to the East Coast, I always took the airline with the movies. I could usually cram 2 movies in 5 hours, which is not bad.

Where did you go? Was the scenery interesting? Did you have long talks with your sister? I know someone who takes a four hour trip every weekend and he listens to books on tape. He checks them out from the library. I think you need a variety of activities to keep yourself from being bored. You could also listen to talk radio if the reception is ok. You could sing, exercise (Contract and release muscles while sitting.)

I get carsick, so the only thing I can do during a car journey is look straight ahead as reading or anything else will make me be sick. However, on planes and buses I don't feel sick. I usually take a piece of cross-stitch with me, as I can make a big difference to what I'm sewing if I have a few hours to work on it. Although you can't take scissors on the plane, you can usually take needles without a problem, as well as a pair of nail clippers to cut your thread.

I went on a long road trip from Brisbane to Cairns in Australia. We left on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day we stopped off at a palm fringed beach. I had a lovely swim there in the Pacific Ocean. On the trip I looked out of the window at the scenery and had a sleep when I was tired. At one point I had the window open but my pillow fell out of the window.
On a long plane trip I read a magazine or read a book. I do a little bit of writing in my note book as well. If there is a view out of the window of a landscape I enjoy looking at that like on take off and landing. I count down the hours to my arrival. As I suffer from ear pain during landing I wear a pair of ear plains to stop my ears getting painful. My flights from the United Kingdom to Colombia lasted many hours. I was with my daughter and my disabled son.

I usually try to bring a book with me. I've always enjoyed a good book, which can help pass the time. I also usually have my laptop with me. So I can try to write something, or something to that effect. It usually helps. Although I have to admit that I've never been on a 30 hour car ride.

I bring a book and my Ipod. I am a big music person and just relaxing and jamming out to my music will keep me occupied. If its on the way to a spot I will be so excited (usually) that I will go over my plans in my head. On the return trip I am usually so tired and ready to be home that my music usually lulls me to sleep. My vacations tend to be active rather than relaxing, so this works for me.

Thankfully, I have never taken any long trips in a long time. However, there were a lot of times in the past where I have and I just take a nice long book to read with me. That way, I don't find myself worrying about how long the trip is taking. If someone enjoys reading, it is easy to get lost in a good book. Also, a portable battery operated DVD player and a few good movies might be something to consider. I would also really consider listening to music, but that can even get tiring to someone like me who really does enjoy a lot of music most of the time.
There are many reasons why I avoid long trips like the plague. And barring that, I would never drive, because I would behind the wheel for hours and hours. The actual destination might be a fun place, but the drive or the flight or whatever is a pain. If only we can be teleported from place to place, that would be really great. Sadly, that is rather unlikely to happen for quite some time. So I guess those who wish to travel are stuck in the grind of traveling. The longer it goes, the harder it is to keep things interesting and fresh.

Wow! A 30 hour car trip. That must have been exhausting. And 10 magazines. Perhaps you've already had your fill of magazine reading for the whole year .
What do I do to entertain myself during long trips? I sleep . I usually bring a book to read and also load my phone with an ebook as back up. I don't want to use my cellphone that much as I want to conserve on battery. I also bring my iPod with me so that I can listen to music of my preference. If I'm bored sleeping or reading, I write something. If I can't think of anything else to do and my companions aren't up to a conversation, I go back to sleep!

Yes, get more prepared is the key. Before a long trip on airplane, normally I made myself more tired with some exercise, sleep less, and doing some work that need more energy. On the plane, should wear more comfortable clothes and don't drink coffee. It will help you to sleep more. At least this situation help me to manage the rest hours. I always travel to Asia at least once a year. It takes around 30 to 40 hours flight. I bring along with me a book, laptop with extra battery and some favorites movies, PSP, and gadget. I have a plan to buy an Ipad to help me get enterntained on the plane. Normally there is a TV for each seat on the plane. You can watching movies, watching TV, news, and playing games. For A long trip on a car, I don't have idea. My longest car trip is 12 hours, and I love driving.

I dont really know how i survive long car trips. I guess after u are through them, u dont look back anymore. I think that sleeping is best to kill time. After you are awake, hours could have gone by. For my usual practice, i would put on my ear phones put the music on a soft volume and try to fall asleep.

The longest was 8 hours. I couldn't imagine 30 hours. What I will be doing? Driving of course. It was whether driving or sleeping when someone take my turn. If I need to be somewhere that far, I would prefer a flight there. There's no way for me to drive. 8 hours was tiring enough.

The longest trip I have been in is just 5 or 6 hours though.. and I just spent it talking with my family or friends who are with me or on the phone, listening to music(I have an mp4 with lots of music and videos too) , eating or sleeping.. and staring at the nice scenery.

I sleep, eat, sleep, eat, sleep, eat. I tried reading magazines and books while in a car but got very dizzy. I always bring something to munch in long trips. I bring my favorite CD and play it over and over again. Just make sure to bring earphones because others might find your music annoying.

On those long hour trips on airplanes, when the seat i will get have movies, then i will watch all the movies i haven't seen yet. I am also fond of magazines so i will read them. For the other times, when i get so sleepy already, then i will sleep.
For long land trips, During the day time, i will enjoy seeing the sights as we pass them. AT night time, i can sleep or listen to music. I will make my trip enjoyable as much as i can so i will not get bored.

Firstly, I had not and will not travel such a long journey through car, its very painful, but if I have to travel such a long journey through car, I will do two things........................firstly, I will ask for a driver to drive my car and I will sleep on back seat....................secondly, I will eat chips and listen music to pass my time...............hey, don't that I am very lazy.........but it's too bore to travel so long distance sitting continuously in a car.
