Too much influence

It starts when you were young, admiring an anime character, imagining and doing what the character does. That's understandable. But when a person aged 17 above does it, now there's something wrong in the picture.
I remember once in high school, there was a senior who was an anime fanatic. He was up to date with the episodes and knew a lot of info about anime. Even his gestures were anime like. One time another senior was pissed off and instigated a fight with him. Suddenly, the fanatic senior turned to him and from the looks if his actions he was mimicking a super saiyan in DBZ with sound effects of the aura coming from his mouth. Unfortunately SS mode didn't help him, he dropped to his knees with two punches. But that's not the point. I just find it bizarre that anime can give that much influence to someone to the point where a person's reality is mixed with his fantasies. And it's not just this senior student, I've seen a number of people who also behave that way.
I watch anime, I sometimes even do some cool anime gestures but I don't internalize it like some people do. Can't they differentiate anymore what's proper and not?

Hi Dranreb !
Hmmm.. SS mode, and he was still got a punch to his face....
I suggest, that your senior should have better gone for SSJ 2; no wait.., probably, fusing with one of his friends would have been a better option..... ROTFLMAO!
Yeah, I do agree a lot of our friends and small chaps of our society have developed a great fond for manga and anime. Its really hideous and frustrating to hear those names from these kids, everywhere you go. Someone believes he's got an invisible pokemon, others try to transform themselves to SSJ modes, while there are still who try to gather their chakra to perform "kage bushin no jutsu"... lolz..
Its actually a flood of these manga and anime shows that have got on our nerves. Because most of them are simply idiotic and are conveying wrong message to our younger generations.
There should be a certain limit to it, because they do have some serious "side effects" as you mentioned earlier. ... SSJ 100 .. Kame hame haaaa !!!!!! ... lolz..:p

That's so true ...last time I thought that I could transform to a Pokemon ..and it didn't happen which made me quite mad. There's a certain kind of influence which we should avoid for kids .....like Superman ...kids trying to fly off the balcony ...-shudders- more vigilance must be practiced..

You're certainly right. There should be a limit placed on anime shows or some sort of warning before viewing.

In the local English dub of dragon ball here in my country,Goku Always say this phrase, I'm hungry as a bear... I caught myself saying that many times whenever I'm hungry. The Japanese video game company known as SNK, this company also have -Anime adaptations of their games. I love the way SNK characters dressed like. Currently I'm trying to channel SNK characters in my personality. I have the same haircut with the character Iori Yagami.I can relate with him home because I'm kinda quiet .

Yeah that's fine. That doesn't seem extreme. While the person I saw really thought he was in super saiyan mode. He went to the extreme and kind of lost contact with reality.

The normal one, I used to have the same haircut with him until the freaky Justin Bieber gets famous. I Just shave my head because of that. I'm planning to copy K's haircut soon but still maintain Iori's fashion sense.

That's really fine as long as you were still young when you were doing it. Since you've stopped doing it then you've shown signs of growing, that's ok.

Wow I think something's wrong with his upper story! LOL! Well, if he feels that way, and if I come to know a person like that I'll just let him be as long as he doesn't cause any trouble. I was kind of fanatic about Sailormoon when was a kid, and being a kid is an excuse for mimicking Sailormoon's actions and luckily, I didn't bring that behavior with me to high school.

Totally excusable when you're a kid... it's just kind of weird if you still do it in high school... because it's like having your own world that people can't reach to....

I had an experience once last year in college (yes, college). The thing happened right after the class, after an exam actually. My classmate, an anime addict, was making weird sounds as we went outside the room. When he was still doing those noise, one of the higher years told him to shut up and keep quiet. It was awkward because my classmate still continued to do the noise even after he was scolded. Oh well, he was really influenced. By the way, the weird sounds were sort of like laser beams in Gundam.

Way back to my childhood. I also imitating DBZ when i was elemntary. And also my friend we are sort of fighting somewhat. It was very funny when it comes to my mind. But it different when i step 17 onwards. I love anime so much but i dont pretend something. Of course., youre not a child anymore. But as of today im now at 20s but still love animes and also JPOP. The only thing that I can do is to sing JPOP while at work. Just singing not too loud . Its motivate me when I was busy at work and avoid boredom.

I guess it's some sort of growth incapability that others have that they can't let go of their fantasies. I listen to Jpop too. I like their style of music.

Watching Anime really influence us big time. I especially was very influenced by Anime. I was addicted to watching Anime, I will watch for the whole they without stopping. My expressions will change, how I dress up and I even wanted to learn Japanese language. I even wanted to visit Japan and eat all the food I watched in my favorite anime. lol. :)
