Today is the Children's Day and I shall feel happy to it, but I am not. My son can have a day off school, but I still have to work today. So what a festival! I think it is better to make it as an official holiday so that parents and children can really have a good time together in this festival. Otherwise it means nothing to the children

I agree! Why isn't Children's Day A federal Holiday? If All the kids are out of school , shouldn't All the Parents be off work? Try to enjoy your day.

Can anything be done? Over here in the States it may take a movement or a strike or just a Congressman to propose a bill but We fight until we get things changed.

Hi youless, don't be sad that easy. You still can celebrate Children's Day together with your son as soon as the office hour is over or later at dinner. Or you can get a present earlier and give it to your loving son in the celebration. It's insignificant to celebrate Children's Day with one day school off, whereas the parents are still busy with the work in the office
Here in my place Children's Day falls on 16th of Oct. School children go to school as usual on this day but they don't have to bring their school bags respectively for there is no lessons. They are allowed to bring foods and beverages and celebrate in their own class after the grand Children's Day Ceremony held in the school hall is over. The official ceremony will take about half an hour or so. The following 90 min are splendid presentations dedicated by different classes.
Magician is invited on this day to entertain kids sometimes. Free cup of Milo is served to school children as well occasionally. Other than that every child can receive a single gift pack contains children's favorite snacks and confections. Of course they enjoy the most is the great fun to play their favorite games together in the class
Happy posting

Yeah, I believe not only you dear, majority of the parents who treasure Children's Day will like to get along with their children during this children's great day. Our kids will fell lonely as well to stay alone at home alone. I agree the authority concerned will make this day a public holiday so that parents can celebrate this wonderful festival specially for children together with their kids. We have a Children's Day Song that every kid here loves to sing to celebrate their great day

Thanks for the BR
Oh yeah, I believe majority of the parents have such thinking and wish that the authority will announce Children's Day as a public holiday very soon or before the next coming Children's Day This will be a great encouragement to motivate the children to do better

A good celebration goes along way to have parents and children enjoy one another. Children's Day sounds like a very nice way of celebrating how really special children are. The blessings of good health and good upbringing all come together for some laughs and smiles. Really sounds nice!

Hi youless
Sorry to hear you are sad and yes very hard to work on special days the children have fun days. It is so hard to juggle all and still have to work. Maybe plan something for your next day off and call it the family's Children's Day. This way you all have something to look forward to.

Hi youless but i think otherwise children's day is for children why adults should be given off.You can't make every festival small or big an official holiday.don't be sad about it there are other ways too to celebrate it you should have taken you child for shopping & could have purchased some toys, books, clothes etc of his choice after coming home from office.

I agree. With their parents working, they'll probably end up in daycare, or something. In Canada we have Family Day on or around February 18th, and everything is closed, except for emergency services. It's great for whole families to have the day to spend together.

youless,
I cannot help feeling that you are rather attached to your son here. Anyway, I am sure you can appreciate the fact that we need children to be on their own for a day or two during certain holidays without parental presence. So, what better way than a day of their own - Children's Day where they can fully enjoy and express themselves with their peers.
Just take comfort that it is just a day and I am sure you would have heard some interesting stories of that day.

I am supporting your thought, this shows parent's love towards their children. But their is no need to feel sad because you are also a child of your parents and they never wants to see u like this.So untill children's day will not declare as a official holiday till u should assume that your every official holiday to be a children's day.So celebrates each and every holiday as a children's day.I hope govement should have think about chidren's day to be declare as a official holiday.

Yes, indeed it is sad to see that we as their parents unable to spend time with our children during the Children's Day. Hopefully, you will make a good plan and spend time equally with your children, when you are free from your work schedule. I always find another day to replace that day, so my hubby able to spend time equally with my son.

i agree with you it should be a holiday so all the children could truly the day dedicated for them and the family could gather to celebrate the children day. it should be a special occasion as busy parent have only small time to spend quality time with their children. the organizer and the country should recognize it as special holiday just like other celebration to become more meaningful.

If i'm in your place, i will be sad too, but what i will do is to file a leave from work even half day only so at least i can celebrate it with my child.
I agree with you that it is better if it's an official holiday otherwise how can the child enjoy the childrens day if they will not go out because their parents are working. Not all parents stay at home, they need to work as well for their children.
