My colleague bought me Rojak from Malaysia today, and I like it so much! If you never heard about Rojak before, Fruit Rojak is a traditional fruit and vegetable salad dish found in Malaysia. Fruit Rojak consists typically of cucumber, pineapple, mango and water guava. The dressing is made up of water, black bean paste, sugar, lime juice and topped with chopped peanuts. Next time must come to Malaysia/Singapore and try the Fruit Rojak!

Yeah... I love Rojak.. A great rojak are very generous in ingredients. And rojak in Sarawak also have fried bean curd. Have you tried Rojak Sotong Kangkong or Squid and water spinach rojak? It taste great too. You should tried it next time. The paste is a bit different in taste compares to fruit rojak.

Apa Khabar, marcmm? Hope you're doing well. Hey the Rojak sotong kangkong sounds like the celup-celup (steamboat satay)+ peanut paste to me, are they the same?

Rojak Sotong Kangkung - An image of rojak sotong kangkung. It was made from kangkung (water spinach) and big squid. Boiled and then the gravy or rojak paste are put on the top of them.
Khabar baik.. It not the same I think. But the kangkung and sotong are boil first before the rojak paste been put on top of them. maybe it is the same but I don't know since I've never taste the celup-celup. Sotong kangkung paste are bit richer in the shrimp paste. I think they put belacan in the paste as well and the petis are richer compares to fruit rojak. Here some image of rojak sotong kangkung for you.

Marcmm, you can see celup-celup at here: http://www.mylot.com/w/image/2489382.aspx this food is famous in east Malaysia, where kangkong, sotong, vegetables on skewers are dunked into a boiling pot of water and then eaten with chili or peanut satay sauces..Sedap! Thanks for the rojak sotong kangkung picture, I can find it here is Singapore too, but they are served with peanut satay sauces instead of shrimp paste. :-)

I do not know Rojak. I live in Nigeria. Rojak could be interesting to me if I have the opportunity of eating it. Maybe you can invite me to your country and home and then prepare it for me to eat. naija, I think there are a lot of nigerian studied in malaysia. i've seen a lot of them in Sarawak. My brother also have a lot of nigerian friends. Maybe you can ask them to bring you this rojak paste. i know it is not easy to brings fruits across borders without permit due to many disease now, but I think it is okay to bring this rojak paste to your country. Ask them to bring for you if you have any friends who always travels here. Use this rojak paste like a salad dressing. Put in fruits and vege like cucumber, yam bean, mango, pineapple and you can also include fruits like pear and apple. The add in this rojak paste and stir it evenly. After that it is ready to be eaten.

Hi. karlim. Welcome to myLot! I have never tasted a Fruit Rojak before. I wonder if I would like it if I would taste it. It sounds interesting. I usually don't eat vegetables and fruits when they are together, but it is worth me trying to though.

I think you will like it, imagine you are eating mixed mango + pineapple + water guava + cucumber with a sweet dressing and topped with chopped roasted peanuts. Cream97, where do you stay in United states? I'm sure you can find Rojak in any of the Malaysian/Singaporean restaurants. If you're staying in the east coast, I can tell you where to get a nice Rojak from: http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/21/256125/restaurant/chinatown/penang-philadelphia Besides Philly, Penang restaurant also has a branch in New york too.

Hi karlim, This is a mouth-watering dish my friend. I use to buy and enjoy this salad from pasar malam all the time. Its very interesting to look at the way they prepare the dressing. Now I can have rojak anytime I want to and all the credit goes to the bottled up rojak pastes, easily available in the supematkets. All I need is a combination of my favourite fruits. Memang sedap!

Yes, i know what is the rojak. I am malaysian sure i know about it. My friends also very like it, they are always take it after their dinner. The taste is very nice, but my family not allow me eat too much because rojak is not very nice for our health. But i think 1 week take 1 or 2 times are acceptable. So sometime i would make real salad using fruits or vegetable for my deal. But i more perfer rojak, so remember come malaysia and try it. Very nice food!!
