I have enjoyed watching Law and order SVU for such a long time. the characters of Olivia and eliot are two of the biggest reasons that i watch it. i will still continue to watch even if they leave, but the experience will be less inviting without them. they will be missed by their many fans.

First Christopher Meloni (Who plays Detective Elliot Stabler) and now Mariska Hargitay (Who plays Detective Olivia Benson) are leaving the show? Gee, I am reading on wikipedia.org and this is what they are saying: At the end of season twelve, Christopher Meloni departed the cast, unable to come to terms with his contract. Meloni will be the first SVU regular cast member from the first season to depart the cast. Before the season ended, Mariska Hargitay asked for a lighter workload; she will continue her role as Detective Benson for thirteen episodes in the thirteenth season before her character is promoted to a supervisory role. Also this is also who may replace them: It was later announced that Kelli Giddish of NBC's recently-cancelled show Chase and Danny Pino of CBS's series Cold Case will join the cast as the new series regulars. Also they have finally getting back the best A.D.A.s ever: Weeks later it was announced that Stephanie March and Diane Neal will be reprising their roles as ADA Alexandra Cabot and ADA Casey Novak, respectively. Aw, I hadn't heard that they were leaving the show. Honestly I just think if both main characters are leaving that they should end the show. I don't see how the show could make it without them. The writing for the show is really good, but their two characters made the show.

Oh no! It will not be the same. I hate to hear this. Too bad for the show.

Olivia is suppoded to be back but not in ever episode. Her character is supposed to get promoted. Eliot being gone seems a bit strange because Christopher Merloni's contract negotions went from a 'done deal' to him leaving the show. Right now Ice-T is the only one under contract for the full year (and one season beyond, if the show lasts that long). I thought it was crazy for the to bring back Goren and Eames for one last year before shutting down CI. Now SVU will be he last of the L and O shows.

I didn't know that Olivia's character was leaving too :( She was my favorite person on that show. I heard about Elliot leaving which sucks. I agree the show won't be the same without them on it. I hope they find some amazing replacements. I've watched almost every episode of SVU on netflix, which 200something episodes. Can't say they haven't been on the show a while.
