Listening is an asset for those who understand the value of it.It is a kind of super quality which surpasses each and every quality of human nature .Using this as a skill helps a lot and sharpening this skill pulls a lot .We all are gifted with this asset but we forget to use it.In every field of human life ,this skill has emerged as a powerful contributor for the devlopment of human kind. One of the most applicable area of life is the courts where the Judge and the Advocates listen a lot before they speak .Their listening affects judgments and in turn affects the society. In an interview ,the whole carrer depends on how the candidate listens to the questions of the interviewee. There is not a single part of life where this assest cant be used and if used intelligently will reap benefits beyond imagination.

I agree wholeheartedly with this, Neelonline! There are too many talkers in the world and not enough listeners! One of the hardest skills to master is to just listen intelligently without wanting to butt in all the time. Children need to be taught this in school. I used to be a teacher and found that all children wanted to do was chatter away. They weren't very good at sitting still and listening. They miss out on so much when they use their mouths and not their ears!

I agree listening is a quality that saves you from making a fool of yourself so many times, but its a habit that has to be cultivated and real difficult to practice. Most of us when presented with an opportunity to listen try and start making sense out of what we are hearing and jumping to conclusions and miss out on details and mostly misjudge the meaning and then to try an cover up our folly we start speaking and that leads to so many misunderstandings and broken hearts and dissatisfaction...only if we could hear properly so many confusions can be avoided.
