I was a regular cine lover in my student life. During that period of my life, I used to watch at least one movie every week. But within the span of last 20 years, I have not visited any movie hall for a single time. Now I feel no urge for watching any movie, rather I feel repulsion for it. Is it an age related problem that I am old enough to enjoy these movies or anything else?

I don't think it's a repulsion, what I think it is is that now you can watch a movie in the comfort of your own home. I also have not been to a movie in years. I can watch pretty much any movie I want at home. Like with cable, NetFlix and my Apple TV. I do at times think about going out to a movie. And remember, we are not 20 years old anymore, so it does not have the same appeal as it did back then.

I have some repulsion for the stupid comedy and shoot out from Hollywood like they are going out of style. I guess there does come a time in eveyones life when things change. I enjoy old vintage movies that are so explensid and leave you wanting more. I still go to the movies but not nearly as often as I used to.

Well why do you feel a repulsion to movies? Is it because you think all the movies coming out are "lesser films" to the ones you grew up with? (I think that's ludicrous, whoever says it. You shouldn't put down the films of an entire generation just cause they weren't what you grew up with) Do you think that films have slid increasingly towards the more risque edge of the moral spectrum? (You'd be right. But you can still find loads of wholesome films or films more to your taste... you might have to look beyond the mainstream movies... but I know there's movies out there that you'll enjoy.) Or are you just disgusted with the idea of sitting on your rump and staring at a screen for several hours? (That's what I think is repulsive about movies. Yet I still watch them. lol)

Hello, we have a common hobbey. In my student life a was also cine lover. Some time I watch two show in a day. I was crazy to watch first show of every movie. I like hindi movies. I watched last movie in 2 July 1996 in Jaipur at Raj Mandir Cinema, you know Rajmandir was the beautiful theatre of Asia. But at present I am not fit to watch movie in theatre, because I am disable one. I am also have not time to watch movies on TV or cable. You are not feeling urge for watching movies because your priorties are changed. You family is on first priorty. In our student life the only theatre are the means of watching movie but now we have TV, Cable TV DVD and internet so we need not to go to theatre to watch movies.

Hi!
I went to cinema quite often when I was a student, and now ever since I have got children, I never go to cinema anymore, for me, I do not have time to go to cinema for movies, and I don't even have time to watch and complete a movie at home. So, I think that is not related to age but it related to your living style that have changed.

No! Don't you dare think that you are too old for film. It is that today's films are not geared to you. Most Hollywood films are made for 13 year old Boys! There are little variety. There are either films based on action heroes or Horror films or films with plenty of car chases. If you are not into Any of these , then Why go to the movies.

Drdidi, i was just like you.During schooldays i was an inveterate movie buff and never missed movies.Later on during my working days i hardly had time to watch films but had not lost interest.Much later,ie in the mid 80`s my life took a sudden spiritual turn and gradually i started losing interest in movies and now i never watch them. The last time i went to amovie theater was sometime in 1979 and after that i haven`t stepped into one.I feel as one grows older the enthusiasm for things one did during ones younger days gradually fades away and since one is occupied with many other things, movies take a backseat and not a priority. It all comes with the ageing process and as one matures one does not give much importance to them and treats them as trifles.

I really think its not the age thing but I guess you have your eyes set on other things that would help you relax or enjoy. If we set our goals and priorities in life sometimes we develop a repulsion to what we used to do because we know that it wont really help us to achieve our new goals and priorities.

but why DrDi? Did you watch a very bad movie and never got it out of your system. How bout at home? do you still watch movies? I hope you still do... If you want to restore your love for movies you should try and watch just once. Go for a light, romantic comedy and if you enjoy that one you probably might get over your repulsion for movies
