Hi people,
I am from Chennai, India and my mom is turning 50 tomorrow. I am so confused on what GIFT i can present her (let me tell my father dies in 2009, so she a is widow).
I thout about lots of things like watches, bags, Fashion items, Ladies wear, kitchen equipments and any electronic equipments like cell phones. But i cant get her these above items because she has all of these "almost in doubles". I too even thout of getting jewelery items or Bluetooth headset but she likes to wear jewels with she buys on her own and she doest like much electronic equipments..
Cakes and chocolets, yes of course, thats usua, me and my brother will arrange them with pizzas too for her on every occasion..
Photo frames? Cant do that coz this time my brother has already bot one and is ready to be gifted.. Normal show piece item, wont be a better option coz i used to present her this every time.
Any New Ideas??
Please help Mylot people...
(Remember this again that she is an Indian Lady)

Well, since her birthday is at hand. Why not give her something with 50 in it?? I would say $50 but you are in India. Just something that you know she would like and would love getting from you. Or take her out to dinner if you can. I hope you give her a memorable 50th birthday..

hi there raji22! Happy 50th birthday to your mom. With your moms age probably she had already got everything she wanted in her life materially speaking. Why not give her a surprise birthday celebration? And look for her best friends, family friends or classmates that she hadn't seen for a long time. Probably it can make her happy. At her age, I believe she no longer need material things to be happy or else do whatever that can make her birthday very special that she will cherish for the rest of her life. I hope it helps! Thanks!

Thanks Meticulo.. Nice idea.. Even i thout of it..
But finding her old friends/classmates NOW, is almost like reaching to Mars or even Stars..
And actually the thing with my mother is, She doest have had any friends before except for her colleagues at work place.
But i will try to go for it... Making her happy is my first priority always..
Y not try...

Since your mother has a lot of the things you mentioned, then i guess there's nothing left that she doesn't have yet.
In this regard, it would be better if you ask her what would she like as your gift to her on her birthday. That way, she will get what she really likes to still have.
Take it from me, because i am a picky mother myself. I prefer that i be asked what i like, because i hate getting gifts that i will not be of use to me.

Yeah really a perfect idea aunty but i already tried these on her previous birthday occasions, and the answer was, "i dont want anything dear"..
Thats y, this time i decided not to ask her and to go on myself to decide and buy one for my mom, but because of above explained thing in my question, i got confused...
Anyways Thank u..
Chears ;)

An Engraved Pure Silver Bracelet or Necklace. Maybe a Nice Dinner in a Better Restaurant not Pizza. Some Nice Indian Cuisine for Dinner then give Her the Silver Jewelry. Something for the Hair if She Uses a Blow Dryer or a Curler Set. Maybe a Shoe Care Kit like to Polish Her Shoes.

But as said above, She likes to wear jewelry items which she buys on her own. Blow dryer is there at home and my mom doest wear shoes or curls/straightens her hair.
But about that dinner, yes i thinking about it and will try to make it happen unless she doest look tired after she gets back from work (Thats y i am planning to get pizzas and cakes at home itself to celebrate)..
Anyways thanx for the ideas m63..

What about traveling ?Most of people like to travel,so does your mother,I think. If she doesn't love to do that ,you can hold a party for her,and invite some of her friends to take part in.Making friends is important to a parent.

Travelling? Yeah, it would definitely been a great one, if she is not a widow. But now she doest like to travel much without her husband.. Feelings u know! some have those... unless she goes outing just for shoppings.
Yeah, Party might be a good one, She will be having a little party at her office for sure but at home thou me & my brother love it and can invite friends, she wont love it.
Anyways thanx...

You have to know what she wants, she's your mother. Although, for some reason women, especially older ones, love it when someone gives them a wall mirror. It's practically an insult because it's kind of saying they should fix themselves more, right? But, as I've said, it works. Well, it worked with my mom and my 2 aunts. It might work for you too, you'll never know.

Don't think so much, remember the first gift you had given to her on any special occasion in your childhood. Give that one again, even if it may not be expensive one, because i think it would be perfect, and it would refresh childhood memories.

maybe a simple gift coming from the heart will top all gifts you can give. write a letter, write a song or poem that truly describes how you love you mother. or consider wrapping your preferred gift to her with all of you loving energy before you give it to her. I promise she will feel that and she will have that energy part of her life :)
