I don't know how to.. but me, myself also grind teeth when I'm sleeping.. I don't even know I am grinding my teeth, till my dad tell me in the morning! Old folks said that to stop teeth grinding, you need to slap the one who's teeth grinding with a slipper then throw the slipper away and make sure the owner won't find it! I dunno if this works as I haven't tried yet! LOL.. I'll be pretty mad at my parents if they would try to slap me with a slipper!

huh! I did try the pillow... lol NO.... I tried waking her and telling her to stop but she says "I'm not".... So she doesnt even realise she is doing it.... I did it when I had braces on, and could hear myself then realised I was doing it.... When I'm stressed I clench my teeth together tight, I've noticed but what does a 6year old child have to stress about????

My grand ma used to say chattering teeth is the sign of worms in stomach and worm medicine should be given. It did help with my kids though, may e you can consult a doctor and get her de worming done and then let us know if it made any difference.

Hi marshal, I did give it a go but she still is grinding.. she is sick at the moment so I think that is making her continue grinding.

Personally it can be annoying, and I have heard can chip the teeth too if you are not doing it right, or remove some of the enamel on there as well. As for a remedy I am not sure there is one especially if it is when she is sleeping. You could check with your dentist though to see what they suggest.

Thanks. Well she seems to have stopped, but occasionally she will do it, but not often enough to be annoying. It does ware down the tooth enamel. It's not a good thing.

Have you tried going to the dentist? They should be able to help. Good luck!

Thank you sacmom I did ask the dentist but they were not that concerned about it... Maybe because they are her baby teeth?? But still....

Hmm, that could be it! I know when I was little and would grind my teeth, no one worried about it. It was only after I became a teenager that my dentist brought it up.

teeth grinding or Bruxism is very common to kids. I myself had this condition but not that often anymore..they said it's somewhat hereditary, well not proven but in our case,my dad had this then my older sister,me and younger brother and my 3 yr old daughter started to have this.I can says that it's stress related as I usually do it whenever i'm too tired or have been thinking much and I notice my daughter does this if she is so tired from playing. It's true that the dentist will not actually say anything about it because kid's teeth are still not permanent and still can be replaced but the major problem comes when our teeth are already permanent as it can lead to some teeth, jaw or any denture problems.
