I use both, I have one at work and one at home. I like them both, both are quite powerful. I find that PaintShop Pro is a little more user friendly with cropping, and the Photoshop is more user friendly with modifying things like brightness/color/gamma/contrast. Just my very amateur 2 cents.

I have used Paint Shop Pro since version 3 or 4 was given away on the front of a magazine years ago, since then I've periodically upgraded. I find that PSP X is faster to open and work with than PSP 9, but as a programme it is more cost effective than Photoshop and I am sure unless you are a publisher or serious graphic designer, that you can do many of the things you need to in PSP. I use it for web graphics, DVD covers and photo editing and have always found it a sinch.

Hey..
Are you looking for a professional software or an amateur software for dummies in deisgn...
PSP is a littel elder brother of MS Paint. While Photoshop is generations ahead...
Hehehe...too foolish to compare just like comparing ...which has got more speed bicycle or aeroplane...

I agree with you, I use PSP X as main because its easier and simpler than photoshop but I guess its what you learn on really

I heard photoshop is much better than PSP for professional use. When you print a picture you've edited using PSP, the color could be different than you see in monitor. But photoshop is more expensive, so both have advantage/disadvantage.

I'd personally think the company overdid in this software. It does have a lot of options but then the user interface is very cluttered instead of being simplistic which I find better than what a shop and also I think with most of the products being handled by the the same company photoshop has an added advantage. On any given day I would definitely like to use potoshop instead of paint shop pro. because it is very user-friendly and also I feel very comfortable working on it because IEM using this soft for the last two or three years. And now I almost know each and every tool is in that software.

I have only used the photoshop 7. I like it a lot, but it is complicated. I am an artist, so I do enjoy all the things I can do with it.
