All Those Who Wander..

"All who wander are not lost" is a favorite quote of mine. It never really hit home for me until about three years ago. After finding an old friend who I had unintentionally hurt many years ago.
Let me say, for the record.. time doesn't make pain go away and it doesn't soften any blows. To make a long story short, this friend absolutely hated that I found them. Yet, another case of my intruding.. another offense.. another point against me!
Leaving things "messed up" in the past, no matter how bad they were... cannot be fixed years later. You don't wake up one morning and suddenly realize that a trespass against you is "OK" now.. and you move on to friendship again. No matter how badly you wanted to fix things, it doesn't work that way. If life were a movie perhaps, things would have better endings. Not all endings are good in this reality that we call "life". If you are lucky enough to find that long lost friend, whom you hurt, use your time wisely.. In that small window of opportunity that is allowed... say only what is important and leave it at that. You have no idea when that window will close.. again. This time, forever.
This friend was, and still is deeply embedded in my heart, and to say they left an impression on the fabric of my very soul would not be over-embellishing.. it's the truth.
We all do really stupid things in our lives, we hurt people that don't deserve it and we hurt people unintentionally. Even the best intentions don't always produce the best outcome. Ya see, I left thinking that I was doing this friend a favor. I figured I would shoulder the hurt alone and save them the pain. Didn't exactly work out that way.
I will miss my friend forever, wander on in peace my friend... wander on in peace.
And.. Thank you.

a very touching story. I can relate partly of it. but mine was not a friend, I was looking for my biological mother. I do have an idea where she is. I even left messages for her but there were no response. It hurts to know that everytime i reach them there were no efforts from their end. I even left my number for them to contact me but up to now none a single call receive. It's been 14 years now since i knew who i was.. I am still open for a possibility that one day well meet with each other, but was hoping it will never too late when that day come...
Your story inspired me of not to lose hope. Thank you for sharing this kind of story.

I hope that you find your mother, perhaps she is looking for you too and she isn't very good at tracking you down. I'm glad that my story inspired you, Don't give up searching.. even if it's for closure.
Best of luck on your quest :)

wow that is quite touching and i hope it wont be forever since you seem to still care an awful lot for your friend. but you know some people are very stubborn and unforgiving. i think some just cant admit they are wrong in holding something against a person that is trying to make it up. If you've ever watched My name is Earl, you will see how some people just wont except making up for them.

Thank you for reading :) I'm pretty sure that it's forever gone, but that's OK. I got memories that I wouldn't trade for anything, and I got closure.. I got to say what I felt needed to be said for many years. I am at peace, though I didn't get what I wanted.. I'm at peace.
