Hi mylotters! I hope that your day is going great so far and continues to move in that direction. did you ever have one of those days when you thought you heard someone at your door or coming up your driveway only to find there was nobody there? What do you think causes these reactions in us? How do you handle it when it happens to you?

I have had days where I think I hear someone calling my name and no one is there. I am not sure what causes this but it is sort of eery. I just check out everything I can and try to find something else to think about or do. I wonder what does cause this to happen and if it is something spiritual.

My grandmother used to say that when you hear your name being called and nobody is there that it means that someone is thinking of you. I just wish when someone was thinking of you, they would really be there and just not be a figment of imagination instead.

The first thing that will surely come out of my mind is did I hear it right or am I not being deceived by my hearing then next will be to hide in my blanket once I feel my hairs as if moving up or run to the next door to frighten my neighbor too as I tell my story.

Imagination can do funny things to us. the more vivid our imagination is, the more often these things can happen to us. Sometimes we just don't know what to believe.

That is right most especially when we are alone and it is dark and cold.

Personally I think this has happened to all of us from time to time especially at times when you are expecting something. I know that at times it can be disappointing but at the same time, if and when it is later at night, it can be quite scary as well. You never know when you will hear noises like that. Sometimes it is just something making us wish we heard as well.

Hi sender: Yes. Maybe it was just a noise that you listen and you inmediatly think that someone is calling you. In my case I feel ridiculous so I feel a little bit frustrated before returning to do what I am doing.

That little voice is always just enough to distract your thinking. it may not seem like a big deal to some people, but it can mean the world to another.

I think its the fact that we are rather tired or might be a bit paranoid. Extremely paranoid someone might really say. There have been times where I have thought I have heard someone. Of course it could be some trick of the light, or the house settling or some weather related disturbance. There are any number of things that can really cause us to think about such things. There are times where things are there when they really are not there. Or are they?

The mind can play its tricks on you from time to time. sometimes knowing for sure that something is or is not there can change so much in your life. thanks for the comment.

The wind can get blamed for so many different things. How can it be in all of these places and causing all this commotion. the wind is everywhere and so is imagination. thanks for the response.

When that happens, it often is a UPS man at the door and leaving. People who know me come to the back door. My driveway curves clear around the house. I hear thumping and banging from time to time, and it is usually the wind blowing the porch swing. My real issue is that I used to hear an old fashioned telephone ringing and it would wake me up at night. I finally figured out that it was a dream about a certain show I had seen. It made me feel freaky, though.

It can be so unnerving when someone comes to your door and vanishes before you can have a chance to get there. What can be the hurry? How do they know they have made the right delivery when they do not wait for a response?

I have occasionally done that too...sitting here at my computer and hear a car door slam and I think it's someone coming to visit...on the other hand sometimes I am so involved with what I am doing here that I don't hear them either! LOL

When i have that unexplained moment, i like to blame it on the wind. it's a perfect scapegoat for anything that comes along.

When I have one of those days it tends to be when lots of little things go wrong one after the other. Normally the best thing to do is to take a break. We get frustrated when things go wrong, and when the mind is stressed about something it doesn't work so well so we encourage more things to go wrong as we're not 100%.

What a little discouragement can do to our minds is amazing. We csan know in our hearts that something is not there but the mind finds ways to deceive us.

When you live closer to people you can expect to hear other car doors and such. when you live in a more rural area, it makes you stop and think when you hear car doors that are not there.

I have had days like that, and I believe there is always some simple explanation for although I may not find out what it is. Just liek this morning at my daughter's school I always check my email there before I leave. Never have I heard a sound like what I heard coming from the wall this morning. It really scared me but I truly think it was maybe someone working on the other side of the wall (even though I did not see them). I try not to think there is anything freaky going on or I will scare myself silly!

Sometimes I do think that we scare ourselves unnecessarily. We can take the most innocewnt thing and turn into something that spins our minds out of control. it can be unbelievable.

No i didnt came upto such a situation when somebody's coming at your door and there is nobody. We have our society where our bungalows are situated near everyone. Sometimes the plastic collectors come they are a bit concerning because they can pick up anything from the outdoor of our household. Else where there is nothing to worry in our village area

Once or twice I thought I heard someone knocking on my door but there was really no one there. I guess at the time I was scared of some happenings. People are normally more acute on something when there are occasions to trigger it. I would take a deep breath and try to calm myself.

Sometimes i just write these feelings off to the fact that i watch a lot of scary movies. sometimes i think that just gets into my imagination and puts ideas there that are not real.

That could be the reason why you are hearing things. I normally depend on my gut feeling. When I entered a building or a place for the first time I would put on a radar on my senses and try to feel what's in the place. When I feel okay, then there's no reason to be scared. Although sometimes I got a goose bump right after entering a building or a place...
