What is the most random thing you have seen on the side of the road? I was driving to work yesterday and on the side of the freeway, there was a white, leather love seat. It looked like it was in good condition and it was sitting upright facing the freeway, as though someone had just set it there. I have seen other things as well, including a shoe. One shoe? How does only one shoe get on the road? I am curious to hear what others have seen, so please share the most random thing you have seen on the side of the road.

Maybe that one shoe that you saw belonged to someone who was drunk, or someone who got abducted...OMG all kind of thoughts could come in one's head with the sight of just one shoe! The most random thing I've seen on the side of the road is a raccoon. I mean I see squirrels all the time but seeing a raccoon getting its way down to a canal was something new to me. I thought it was kind of cool cause I only saw them at the zoo. lol Now for something awkward....last Sunday on the side of the road was this guy who was holding a sign that says "Got Pot"? He smiled at each car passing by and turns his sign around and it says "I need weed"... weirdo!

That is hilarious! What a weirdo. He must have been desperate. I have seen pan handlers on the corners of somewhat busy streets with lower speed limits holding "Homeless, please help" or "will work for food". Monday through Friday, if it was nice, I would see this one lady holding a sign that said, "Homeless. Help if you can." One of the local news channels reported on her and she was not homeless. She had a house and vehicles. Next time I saw her, her sign just said, "Help if you can". At least I know who she is, so I won't give her a dime. But that does not beat the sign that you saw. I am still laughing! Thanks for sharing!

A shoe! That is the most random thing..lol..and I have wondered the same thing..LOL
I have never seen a loveseat or something like that..just in front of someones house. One time I drove for miles of nothing and then all of a sudden..a street stand. Like someone selling fruit or crafts from the back of their truck. I'm thinking..what the heck..I think I would go where there were people that might stop. Weird.

Sometimes I have to wonder not why something is on the side of the road, but rather what someone is thinking when they put something on the side of the road away from anything, like a street stand. I would want to make money after all the efforts of setting up the stand. Obviously their thoughts are not the same as mine.

Most random things I see on the side of the roads are slippers, Shoes, paper, some plastic containers, metal scraps and wheels interior. Well of course because at the side of that road is a junk shop.

Two things. One was a life-size stuffed zebra which had first blown from somebody's back garden onto the railway line and had entangled itself in the overhead wires. The railway company removed it (resulting in a huge delay to the train service) and the very next day whilst I was back on the train travelling to work once more, the very same stuffed zebra had again blown from the back garden onto the street running alongside the railway line. The other thing I saw by the roadside, and this was many many many years ago, was when I and a few friends were driving through the countryside at night. The car headlights picked up a bundle of something by the side of the road, and I panicked as it looked like a body to me. I was imagining all sorts of horrible things such as a cyclist or hiker being the victim of a hit-and-run driver and left to die on this lonely country lane. We got out of the car to inspect the bundle, taking a torch with us, only to discover it was a large black plastic bag full of unused balls of knitting wool. We could only assume that someone had been taking these balls of wool somewhere and that they'd fallen off the back of a vehicle.
