Well i would if they are my friends here and i have talked with them for months here
i don't see any harm in disclosing my identity here on mylot if you see there are thousand of facebook users who have filled up everything about them in the profile like where they work, which school, college they attend and many other also email id and phone no: it does not effect us i think
i would have mentioned more things but i think you never reply back to most of those who take part in your discussion so this much is enough for now
don't mind Doctordidi i would be back with more if you are back

sajeev we may not be close friends yet (or even ever) but that does not mean that I don't notice when your attire changes

It really is the only way one gets to know the other is simply by interacting and asking questions, from there as mysd interprets above you move into PMS, then you eventually email and voila some become good friends.
Kind of the same way it works offline is my thoughts. Cause you see I go to theater gatherings a lot and although I see a lot of familiar faces, errm like avatars here, I don't necessarily give out my contact info, it comes with time.

Yeah we never know if we can good friends online if we don't even try and always keep ourselves hidden
not everyone is spammer or thief online who always look for misusing our information for his personal pleasure
we see similar faces every where we go like on bus, on train, even at our office. we talk to them then some of them even become close freinds but not in a day or two it takes lot of time there too even years (personal experience )

I ways think it is safe to do that, but if you were up date to what happened between USA and China on interneet on internet hackering. Many people across the globe are complaining that their personal information on the gmail have been tempered with. You cannot trust any one to keep your private information in confidence.

If we are FRIENDS, yes.
Indeed I speak with many of them on the phone.
Would you?

Sure mike but once you get to speak to them for a while one gets to know him/her. I would be abt to sharing but of course after we have interacted for a while. It is the same offline right? I mean I don't immediately give my phone number to someone I just met. It happens with time.

Hi mysdianait, if he is a real friend in life for a long time and if I know him or her well, it is OK and there is no harm. But what's about a friend in mylot whom I have never met before and know nothing of him or her, he or she may be fraud?

DD first you must realise who is a FRIEND here and who is only a friend (as in online buddy). I know no-one here in real life (except my upline) but after 4 years here I have come to know who is my FRIEND, who I can share personal things with and who I can give offline contact information to. From then it is obvious that it moves forward. We speak on the ohone and then, hopefully, will eventually meet. Sadly there is a huge pond which divides me from some of my friends here

No, the information on my profile is enough. Half the fun is that you can be anyone you want to be. You can even be a whole different person if you close your account and come back.

From the TermsofUse:
"By using the myLot services, you represent and warrant that (a) all registration information you submit is truthful and accurate; (b) you will maintain the accuracy of such information; (c) your use of the myLot services does not violate any applicable law or regulation; and (d) you are sixteen (16) years of age or older. Your myLot account may be deleted and your membership may be terminated without warning, if we believe that you have violated any of the Terms of Use Agreement. You will not be entitled to any accumulated earnings if your account is terminated for one of the reasons listed above."
http://www.mylot.com/o/terms.aspx
Many users have already lost their accounts for the above reason therefore suggesting that others falsify their information is NOT something we should be soliciting surely?

I read this "You can even be a whole different person if you close your account and come back" in your response and coomented accordingly.

I was not talking about false information, only about the ability to approach discussions from a differnet point of view. The majority of discussions require no personal information and they should not. What I post on my profile is all the information I choose to disclose and does not reflect the information I gave mylot to join. I agree if that was faked membership should be denied.

Hello doctorDidi,
Revealing myself to some lotters was never my plan because my life outside mylot is not something that i had in mind. i prefer to keep it secret as it is, but when one of the lotters proposed a meet up, i had a change of my mind and meet them up. this is the evidence of that.
Not a referral link.

I have always been willing to do so, but not just with anyone. A listed friend is not exactly what I consider a friend. But friends that I have come to care for and vice verse, absolutely. Many of my listed friends have actually become close ones.
See I barely hear back from you so how can I disclose anything about me when you have not as much as asked?
But I have several others who we have shared quite a bit.

Next time that myLot ask for suggestions, we must ask them to put the page number in PMs at the top instead of at the bottom. Once we get over page one it is tiresome having to scroll back up to the top again to read further pages and respond

DoctorDidi I have pm you and you have never responded back. I have actually done so twice, though it was not to ask you about personal information it was to help you here on myLot. After no reply I took it as you were not interested in added help. I cannot force anyone to benefit from myLot.
I have actually PM MANY here and believe it or not our PM sessions have amounted to 100 back and forth responses. Therefore with time we have come to know one another and as mysdianait says above, we have spoken on the phone too.

The people I know on here I would probably tell all my information to if I haven't already. It would depend on the circumstances and how comfortable I am with a person.

I try to hide some of my personality. I don't want everyone to know everything about me! I like to keep people guessing who I am! I think I have let people on Mylot know probaly to much of me! I also do not plan to meet any Mylot memebers in real life. So this why I will not disclosure all of my personality!

I haven't had any kind of personal interaction or communication with any myLotters rather than knowing their names or being familiar by their unique display pictures. So I haven't got a chance to think of such a situation yet. Moreover I don't think revealing personal identity matters much, specially when all of use live in entirely different locations (on either sides of the globe in fact).
If we are close enough and curious to know each other, there is nothing wrong in revealing personal identities with each other. But I doubt that would the change the dimensions of the relations that exist between myLotters(at present).
Curious yet, Good Question....

Well, personal identity is personal. If you are referring to pictures of us, that is my real picture. It does not say much except that you see what I loo like. If you mean name, address, phone number, that you have to be careful with. Even though I have come to know some of you by posting and responding, I do not feel compelled to just give out my information. I am sure over time, maybe I could release some information.

That would depend upon who they were. For instance one person did find out way too much about me so here I am starting completely over again hoping that person doesn't discover the "new me"
Sure I have a few close people here on mylot I chat to, some aren't even on my friend list right now but I have talked to them on numerous occasions and still do through IM's, emails, one even via text messages. =) One of my friends even made a sweater for my chihuahua and mailed it to us. =)
Mylot has been a place where I have made several friends but it has always been a place where I have learned to be careful about who I tell too much to.
Since I don't know you though I am sure our paths has crossed here or there on mylot I wouldn't disclose my personal info to you, but maybe to a few people if they ask I would, but I have learned to be very careful.

yes there is no harm in disclosing your identity however you don't know him/her because any ways after talking to him/her you get to know how he/he is.
But most of the people don't really like to disclose it because you never know what type of people you really can get on internet.

hi doctordidi I have already given my personal information tol several here and was happy to do so as they were reeally really concerned fo my safety as I am elderly and a diabetic.I would not give my personag identity to those I have just met. but I have friends here whom have been my friends for many years, and yes I did give information to those special people. Some have my phone number, I have met on mylotter and it was a wonderful meeting as she was just as swell as I had imagined her to be.

Hi. DoctorDidi. I would like to have some myLot friends call me on my phone, but I am scared to give them my telephone number. I don't mind talking to them, I think that it would be fun to get to know them personally. I don't think that I would reveal my personal physical address to them, just yet though.
