I don't undertand 'Tasks' on myLot

Can someone please help me understand completing Tasks on myLot? What I have seen is asking for downloading or private e-mails and I just don't know if these are safe sites. How does one know? Have you been completing tasks and what benefit has it been to you?
Maybe I am being too careful (or paranoid lol)

In the past I found Sharon Bucks writing tasks to be very profitable!!! 
However, I haven't seen any of her tasks in quite a while!!! 
I have made it a practice to stay away from those tasks requiring me to download a program, or requirements to join a site as their referral, or the private email as I feel paranoia is safer than being scammed!!! I did one task that I was concerned about & sure enough, I didn't get paid. Since then, I decided if it wasn't through somebody I know & it doesn't pay more than 2 cents, I don't have time to waste on them!!!

I guess i'm being paranoid also lol! I can't understand what to do either. I hope we can figure it all out,
