Jesus and the Law (John 5:1-18). Today we see a new scene. Not only miracle that Jesus made, but the impact of his actions. He now must deal with Jewish people.
False accusations for among Jews, do work on the Sabbath is not justified. Apart from what is in question, we see that their accusation against Jesus was wrong. Jesus never meant for breaking the Sabbath as alleged in Him (John 5:18).
Mistaken understanding of Sabbath. Sabbath was held not to be troublesome, but for a blessing. The Jews added a lot of rules about the Sabbath wihch was not originally the case, then eventually their own trouble.
Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath. Here we can see that Jesus is free to perform his actions, let alone that it was done his good deed. He is not the Sabbath violators. Where is his authority? His authority is in Himself, because He is God above all else including the Sabbath (John 5:17).
This is the ministry of Jesus that does not give priority to national day and holidays, other sacred ceremonies.
Prayer: Lord, we are grateful for every day that you give to us trough. amen
