I went garaging today to make money but...

I love those shows. We have a few different versions here but pretty much the same. The Antique Roadshow is pretty interesting. I find myself looking at stuff when I go the garage sales trying to analyze it's worth...lol...I don't really know enough about it either. You might browse Ebay and Amazon on specific things to see what the "going rates" are. A book might be a good idea too if you were serious about it.

Personally I think with all things in life we run into snags from time to time, and personally this is to be expected. I would not be letting this Stop you if this is something that you are really wanting to do. Take time to get done what you need too to get your car fixed, and then back on your journey you go. My uncle made loads of money, by going to second hand sales, buying things and then putting all the things that he got onto Ebay.He has bout dirty looking cutlery, that turned out to be silver it cost him a few pence and he sold them for a few hundred pounds, so yes you can make a lot of money.
