Hi, kaimart_aileen. Welcome to myLot! Is this when it is cooked? I have eaten cooked spaghetti and my family and I have never contracted diarrhea before? Are you sure that it was not the cheese that made you sick? What type of spaghetti did you use to cook with anyhow? I am sorry about what has happened to you, and I hope that you are feeling so much more better now.

I always refrigerate pasta and eat the lefovers. But of course everything has it´s time to be in the fridge. You have to place it well covered (I also pour a bit of oil before storing it) Usually I eat it the next day, turned into a n omelette or used in a minestrone.

ii just happen that i have my spaghetti right now and i plan to put the left overs inside my ref. i don't think that would be spoiled if stored properly. just don't mix it with other food because it may really be causing spoilage.
most bacteria thrive between 5deg and 60deg. The faster you get out of that range, the less bacteria. Whether putting warm food in the fridge speeds the cooling process or warms other food in the fridge... not a clue. I bet it uses more energy, though.

Yes when it is cold you can't smell but of course you have to re-heat before heating and while doing so that's when you can smell it is no longer fit for eating. Well in may case, I always put leftover spaghetti in the refrigerator but I make sure that before I do that I reheat first and then let it cool before refrigerating. And also most of the time when I cook spaghetti there is no leftover because it tastes so good that my guests would not want to stop cooking till nothing is left.

Two years ago, I had a fever and shivering during that time. It is already 2am and I'm really hungry. My boyfriend bought a spaghetti from a 24hour convenience store. Those spaghetti that were stored in the refrigerator. I'm not sure if he microwaved it but the next day, I got a diarrhea. I was rushed in the hospital since my fever is not going down. I was diagnosed that I have amoebiasis. These amoeba will stay in my digestive system and will just deactivate if I took meds.

Was the pasta and sauce together in a container when it was in the ref? Or the two were separated? I doubt you'll get diarrhea when the two were separated. It must be not the pasta but the sauce since some spaghetti sauces contain milk to give it a creamy taste, and milk can get spoiled easily even inside the ref. OR the spaghetti you ate was outside the fridge for more than two hours, then was paced in the ref after two hours, then you ate it. I heard it somewhere that spaghetti, pasta and sauce mixed, can be spoiled in a span of 2 hours on room temperature.

Diarrhea's a b*tch! Hope this doesn't turn you off spaghetti for good. I agree with the previous posters, it is more of the the sauce that is spoiled and not the pasta.
I am a huge fan of spaghetti and has been doing this for quite some time - storing leftovers in the fridge. Just make sure you store the sauce and the pasta in separate containers and don't let it stand on the table for too long before refrigerating it. Oh, and don't refrigerate it while it's still hot.
Now that I think about it, it's pretty high maintenance to eat and keep spaghetti. Oh well, I think it's well worth the effort.
