Do you shop at Goodwill?

I go usually once a week, sometimes more. There are 3 Goodwill's in a 15 mile radius of my house so I try to hit them all each month because you never know what kind of great deal you will find there. Do you shop at Goodwill too? What other thrift stores do you recommend?

I only shop at GoodWill a few times a year. I do shop at salvation army more frequently. However, trying to cut back even in my 2nd hand spending is a challenge for me especially during rummage sale season.

my town has many thrift stores down town. i get to them once every month or so. (i tend to donate more than i actually make it to the store) i don't have the money very often to shop, but you can find some awesome items there. it's amazing what you can find. last month, boyfriend wanted to get some clothes. he went to a thrift store up in santa barbara and got 2 designer suits! one he paid 12 bucks for the jacket! he scored that day! yuo never know what you're going to get...but you need patience!

I used to shop Goodwill all the time when my girls were growing up. Now I only go once in a while if I'm looking for something for myself. One thing I've noted is that their prices have gone way up over the years. Sometimes it's more than what you'd pay at a regular retail store. Like once I saw this shirt with the tags still on it, and Goodwill had it priced a buck more than what was on the original tags from the store it originally came from. Funny thing was that my daughter and I had just seen the exact same blouse on sale at a different retail store for $3.50 less than at Goodwill. Guess it pays to know your prices lol. I like to shop at Salvation Army stores. The money they make goes right back in to our community. When my Dad & wifes house burn to the ground, they opened the store on a Sunday and let them take whatever clothing they needed for free. They were such a blessing in their hour of total need! Plus, they let the homeless come in and take coats, etc, in the winter and don't charge them for it. I donate all my used clothing to Salvation Army. The way I see it, is that Goodwill seems more about profit anymore, while Salvation Army is out to help our immediate area.

I have shopped goodwill in the past but as joy wrote their prices are the same as I have found at Wal-Mart for many items. The thing is Goodwill provides some jobs. There are two near me. These days I shop at other thrift stores. There is a thrift store next door to the Goodwill and their profits go to food banks.

I like to look through the $1.39 bin. Many times I find things for my kids in there. I saw a mirror with hooks underneath to hang jackets and liked it but it was marked 24.99 and I think that is too much for a Goodwill store.

Goodwill is a kind of store I came to know after reading your discussion. But this store is not there in my locality so obviously I am not able to go there for buying. In my view these kind of stores are very helpful and also support the competition which creates a price war and obviously we get the benefit of that.

It's a thrift store that helps the community by teaching people new professions using the proceeds from the sales.

Yes I like to shop in goodwill. I think goodwill is kind of store where you can find every thing under one roof with cheap prices. So I always like to shop in super market and stores. And also their you can find quality products with many more good things.

Thrifting is my my middle name! I rarely buy new clothes (unless they're on sale of course) and I think it's good to buy something from a place that puts the profit to a good use. I don't know what to recommend you, but you should look for local consignment stores in your area. Those are my favorite.
