The recent wedding of Prince Wlliam and Princess Kate got extensive coverage on US TV. That was one thing, but now we have the Frankin Mint issuing commerative soveneirs for "our Princess Kate".
Excuse me, but didn't we fight a war a few hundred years ago to do away with the British royals? Kate is not our princess and she is not the world's princess. For now, she is just the UK's princess. Because of her actions, Diana could possibly have been considered the world's princess. But Kate, so far the only things that I think she has done so far is to look pretty and to say "I do."

The Fore Fathers didn't want to pay the taxes so we broke with England but that didn't mean we stopped Caring about the Royal Family. In fact we are now free to Really like them because we are not ruled by them. So It makes perfect sense for the coin to come out. As for a title of Our, it is a little too early but I think she may just earn it Real soon.

Yes we didn't want to pay taxes but we also wanted to get rid royalty especially King George. It's because of this that we don't have a king of our own. In forming our government, we considered having a king or a president for life and we discarded those thoughts by limiting the term of President to 4 years.
Ralistically, the Royal Family are just symbols anymore. Why should we in America like them? I would agree with liking the English people or the English government since we have been close allies for a long time. However, the royals had nothing to do with that.
The Franklin Mint is in the business of making money and they do it by making junk keepsakes. Their coins are worthless and if you feel good by buying on of their plates or dolls or whatever, go ahead but don't expect it to have any real value.

That's the whole point. They aren't part of the political stuff so we can admire it. And yes The Royal Family is the symbol of England and that's why there is a huge interest. And the Royal wedding will boost The tourist trade in great britain. And The coins Are worth something to others. the Franklin Mint wouldn't be making them if they weren't.

If you go to England, you like as not, will not see the royal family. (I suspect if we had royal family, Congress would be looking to cut them out of the budget.)As to the Franklin mint, hey make coins to make money but their coins have no monetary value because they are not legal tender.

Puh-lease, give us limeys credit for something. We can't stand her either - or all that hype. And if you think I'm buying that commemorative plate from the Franklin Mint ... put it in the dishwasher, and Princess Di's face shows through from underneath, clear as anything.
The Camilla Park-er Bowels loo roll is fun though.
