There is a music school near us. Their Voice Plus Package is consist of 18 sessions: 12 sessions for voice & live performance lesson (2 hours per session); 6 sessions for keyboard or guitar lesson (2 hours per session) The package cost almost Php 9, 000 (about 418 US Dollar if converted). Do you think it has a reasonable price? I have never attended music schools before that is why I am asking. :D

Hi Jordan! I am a musician and in fact, i used to be a choral director before. This is my suggestion to you. I would encourage you to join a choir. This would enable you to be keen on your musical ears and be sensitive to the voices that you hear. Through choral music, you would learn how to be dynamic in the way you sing, read notes and even win new friends who share the same passion. You just have to make sure that the choir that you intend to join is a good choir and has a good choral director (like me hahahaah!). Now, that is what i call reasonable. Once you learn the basics in singing and wish to pursue further, get a graduation student from UP or UST College of Music who can tutor you on more vocal techniques. Since these are students, they can even slice the price at 50%! Furthermore, dont go for pop singing. Why? In pop singing, your voice range wont be that extensive. Go for classical training wherein they can really train your chest, neck and even tongue muscles. Dont think that classical singing means you would sound like an opera singer. No, it is not like that. Pop singing is belting and to tell you the truth, it s*cks, not to mention damaging. Classical singing is relaxing and makes you uppity. Hope this helps!

Thanks for that response! ^_^ But I do prefer Pop music more because they are more embraced by the audiences. My reason of looking for a music lesson is just that I want to sound better (because I don't think I sound good, lols). Singing is my childhood dream (that time, I sound better, maybe because I was still young and able to hit all notes easily) but now, I am studying nursing but it seems that my desire in singing isn't dying. haha. I do not know what to do and where to focus. lols.

What is reasonable now days price wise? I don't think $418 is too much for that many hours of instruction. I would say it is reasonable. You might check with a couple other schools and see how much they charge. That way you would know if you are getting a good deal or not.
