Are you optimistic or pessimistic about the future of our world?

We are all familiar with, and most are concerned about, all the changes occurring right now on this planet. Will this lead to a better life for all or will civilization as we know it be destroyed? I personally feel that, while there will certainly be some difficult days ahead, things are actually going to get much better. We will get back to what really matters such as families and relationships but there will be even more. We will finally come to see and acknowledge that we are all one, and there will be peace in the world and the elimination of hunger. Great strides will be made in medicine as we work together and as we stop polluting, our planet will eventually heal itself. I'm not talking about Utopia, there will still be problems, but the greatest threat to our species will be put to rest. Many will think that I'm being too optimistic, but I truly believe that this can happen. Isn't it better than always predicting doom and gloom?

I find that if you are pessimistic about anything bad will happen. Vise-versa as well with Optimistic being that good will happen. It feels like when people look down they all look down and when people look up they all look up. It's the way you look at things mostly I can't say everything will be good and everything will be bad But that the universe will unfold the way it should and we shouldn't worry about anything as long as we take care of are environment and our surroundings it will take care of us.

I don't like to be pessimistic. it just brings more negative energy into the situation than there was before. Being optimistic gives hipe to the future and that is what we need.

Hi Pose: I try to be objective it's that possible. I think war won't be over simply because it's a good business for politians. Technologies will improved a lot and I hope teh quality of life of millions of peolpe will be better. I hope in the future our economies will work more together like for example the case of the European Union, that's something good too and basically I hope to see a better development of human inventions and technologies but of course political problems will be with us. Even worst. I can't see the end of hunger in a near future.

Hi starsailover, Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I cannot see things continuing as they have been but I think we are on the verge of a big change. Greed and misunderstanding are the culprits, along with a few others but a change is coming, indeed we will have no choice but to change. Blessings.

HAve to say am very negative towards the future too many factories and pollution destroying this planet. Everything is man-made and destorying the natural. There was a time when I would see greenery now its buildings and infrastructure. The world may end or not but it will certainly not be a world that I would want to live in.

Hi Jamie, I'm sorry that you see things that way but I know that you are not alone. I feel very strongly that mankind has a good future although we are going through some bad times right now and it may even have to get worse for awhile. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Blessings.

Well there still injustice in our world which is the basic factor of our problems. So I think our planet will not be a better or safer place until we all believe on justice not by heart or mind but with our actions.

It's better be optimistic about the world, but I don't think like you. In a couple of years, a lot of regions in the world are going to be without water to drink and to agriculture. The hunger problem will be even worse than is now. Also, I believe that the next world war will not be for oil, but for water.
But the major actual problem for me is the pollution of the air. US and China doesn't respect the Kyoto Protocol and they put the profit in first place. In the future, there will be regions that are going to be impossible to live.

Hi moneywinner, Nothing will change until people begin to think differently. You cannot solve a problem using the means that created it. I think we are in for some big changes in the way we think and do business, the old ways must and will go. Thank you for responding. Blessings.

I sincerely try very hard to have an optimistic attitude about almost everything. If I don't I'll just get all depressed and probably go crazy! I happen to agree with you, that what you described CAN happen. I'm not sure it WILL but I think one thing in our favor is that the younger generation all around the world are less likely to favor going to war over stupid things and they're more likely to be concerned about our environment. Since the young people are our future, that makes me optimistic indeed!

I think that everything can be accomplish if we all do something positive. We all have talents ,so we can teach people to be self sufficient and provide them with the right tools. Ignorance is the cause of all evil ,so education should be mandatory for everyone. The solution is to create a working middle class ,so everyone can have the same opportunities. Giving food to people is not the answer since creating a productive society is what makes a nation great.

Change is occurring faster than ever before, and this is a good thing, when you remember it took almost 500 years for the world to come through the dark ages. Also its important to realize that the world in general has always improved over the long haul. While living through 2 world wars, we learned our lessons and came out a much better place. Events that have dragged this world down have been short lived while those that have lifted humanity have persevered. Utopia is just around the corner! The gloomers are doomed!

Hi barehugs, Thank you for sharing your views and it's good to see positive people. I agree that it's good that changes are coming fast but I hope that there is more than technological change. We need to learn that we are all one and show love and compassion for all life.Blessings.

I really prefer being optimistic about a lot of things, not to say everything, in life. I'm just not the type of person who like being pessimistic. I much rather see the positive in things, and just be positive. I find that it's better to be optimistic rather than pessimistic.

Oh yes, the world is getting better all the time. Sure there will be growing pains but that's part of learning. I feel so sorry for the doom and gloom crowd. They value all the wrong things. In fear of change they live for fear itself with the hope to escape even with total destruction. Little do they realize how close mankind is to so many wonderful things. Knowledge will solve all problems. Mankind is at the start of the learning curve. The more we learn the faster we will learn and acquire the knowledge and technology so solve so many problems. This will scare many but hold on for the ride will only get better from here.

I want to be optimistic about the future for my son.
I hope the world could be a better place to live in for him to grow.
I had very good memories of my childhood and I want him to experience the same.
It is our responsibility therefore to act and save what is left of this earth.

lets see, if its not stuped terrorist, then are fanatic religious, if not brainless people making war, like israel, korea, irak and many more, if not mother nature with its hundred vulcanos, tectonic plates, the universe itself outside in space, and if this is not enough, is god with his comming so whatever happend first you choose, heheh its not a joke, you just have to see around you, there are the answers.

Hi investor, Thank you for expressing your thoughts but things are never the same. There is more good in the world than bad, we just have to look for it. Things are getting better, not worse. There will no doubt be some difficult times ahead but we will make it. God is not coming to end all things, the true God is within each of us. Blessings.

hi pose123,
i definitely agree that having positive attitude about world's problems is too much better than predicting that stupid doomsday. it is not our business at all. we can't even prevent it if it really happens.
personally, i believe that this world is going better in all aspects of life.
in environment, all countries still try to save Kyoto Protocol to decrease the greenhouse gas emission which contribute the most to global warming.
in war zones, countries are trying to make peace agreements to stop wars.
in poverty problem, all countries try to advance the food technology to multiply the number of foods to feed everyone.
in terrorism problem, all countries promote the democracy, tolerance, freedom of religion to counter balance the terrorists efforts to spread the hatred toward diversity.
and so on.
so, we have too many reasons to believe that this world will be a better place someday, somehow.

I have always had strong feelings one way or another, but now I find that taking each day, each hour by it's self is the most I can manage. The world will go and the world goes, there is little I can do except stay in the NOW.

Hi savypat, To live in the now may be all that you and I can do today, but if there is to be change, more people have to start speaking up. Maybe our species will be destroyed from the earth, I doubt if we would be the first in the hundreds of millions of years that the earth has been around. I think however that we are going to pull through this and create a better world. Thanks for sharing. Blessings.

Hi pose,
We all know that things never remain static and changes are the rule of the Nature. Since I knew what it meant I have heard so many prediction on the repetition of the the great Flood. But every time they did not come true.
I wonder why these so called soothsayers or readers of the future make such statements and put people puzzled and panic stricken?
Like you I too am optimistic that with some changes this planet would stay millions of years from now or beyond. In the process however the population might minimize.
What we are getting now are the minor symptoms or even may bot be one. What I believe is that live today with sincerity commitment.

Hi rajib, While the average person can't do much alone, we are seeing today what many can do if they stand together. We may be in for some difficult days in the short time, but I'm hopeful that those who can make a difference will see that they must make changes in one way or another. Hopefully it will happen without bloodshed. In the meantime as you say, live today with sincerity. Thank you for responding. Blessings.

I would assume i am optimistic, to be honest, i'm one of those people that have the state of mind of, "what ever happens, happened, and there was probably nothing that i could have done about it." If its my time to go, its my time to go. People should not go crazy about things like this, though it would be very helpful if people do their tasks to prolong the plant, like minimize polluting, but it is hard to break habbits, and change billions of people's mind without power (government etc.) If you have no money, no power in this world, its hard to change anything. You can definetly try but it is likely that people will have very little success.
