What's Your Earliest Childhood Memory

I was about three years old. I was in my grandparent's kitchen. I was wearing my pajamas. I was scanning through the pages of a book, it was more like a magazine, that teaches how to read when I realized that I have learned how to read the syllables, a, e, i, o, u, ba, be, bi, bo, bu and so on, and when I mixed these syllables, it forms a word. This was my earliest childhood memory. What's yours?

Funny my earliest childhood memories are those of me having tantrums in the afternoons with The Bee Gees songs playing in the background LOL! I think I was 2 or 3 then. My nanny would say "Stop crying! Your mom won't hear you anymore. She's probably in the office now." I always wanted to go with my mom when she goes to the office.

If Bee Gees songs are playing your childhood, we are probably of the same age. LOL

I have 3 distinct memories from when I was 3. One is sitting at the kitchen table when my dad came home on pay days. He and my mom would get out the envelopes where they stashed their money. They separated the money into these envelopes: mortgage, utilities, food, etc. The first envelope they put money into was labeled "church." The next was "savings." I don't know for sure if they tithed, but I believe they did because they did give "first fruits" to the Lord. I sat quietly and watched and the small change left over was always mine. I didn't know much about money back then, so I liked getting nickels more than dimes because they were bigger.

Most of my childhood memories I can place around 2 or 3. Such as when I was 3 I got the chicken pox and I can remember the baking soda baths and wearing socks on my hands, and my mom renting me Barney & friends go to Imagination Island. I can also remember playing with my pet rabbit I had when I was 2 and 3. I wish I could imagine earlier like some who have memories of being a baby younger than 1 or even birth. I'm pretty sure you can do exercises to help you remember even earlier in your life, I think I'm going to look into that.

I posted the discussion wondering if anybody has a childhood memory as early as he or she was one year old. So far, you had the earliest memory if indeed what you shared happened when you were two years old. My five year old son cannot even remember his second birthday party. Since you wanted to remember memories when you were younger than 1 year old, would you resort to hypnotism?

I was 4 and put my hand through a glass door. I don't really remember doing it and the first minutes after, though I can picture it from what my family has told me, but I remember waiting at the doctor's office and being afraid I was in trouble.

Hi Balthasar, How did you put your hand through a glass door? Did you hit the door that it shattered? Why is it that when we hurt ourselves, we think that we are in trouble? Isn't it that the pain we feel is punishment enough? just sayin... any scars to validate your memory?

My earliest childhood memory would be when i was also three years old too. My elder sister cheated in spelling. The teacher didn't call my mother though. My sister had a friend that liked to gossip a lot and therefore told my mother everything. She got so mad that she kept caning my sister in the living room. Then my mother open the door and made my sister leave the house before she lock the door. My sister got so scared she started to panic and kept banging the door. In the end, I lost a sister.... Just kidding. My mother let her in after she cooled down. I don't know why but i remember bad stuff more then good stuff.

we remember the bad stuff maybe because it made us learn a lesson. so, did your sister learned not to cheat again? i wonder how old was your sister then, the way your mom disciplined her verged on child abuse... lol

I am not sure if I remember much past 5 or 6. That was when I took my first ride on a motorcycle and freaked out my Mom. It was a really Fun time, and something I have actually done very little of since.

My earliest childhood memory is not a good one I'm afraid. In fact, it was downright gross. I must have been about 4 years old. I remember being at home, in the living room, I believe, where I just threw up constantly. Oh, it was bad! I thought it'd last forever, but of course it eventually stopped. Not a great memory to start off with, but at least it improved after that. Happy mylotting!

I'm not certain of my age. I know my brother was still in the crib and he is a year and a half younger than I am. I recall playing in a mud puddle at Grandma's house and a spider running up my leg. I recall running inside screaming, lol. I don't recall what happened to the spider. I also remember the little tiny Avon lipstick samples in her drawer. And the mimosa tree out in the back yard. I still don't like spiders!

Hi there, I was about four years old when I was invited to audition for a shampoo and toothpaste commercial. I remember my family dressing me up like a barbie doll. They bought me a real nice pink dress and a pair of cute white shoes. They were putting light make up on my face and combing my long straight hair for like a hundred times... We went to Quezon City for the audition. I was real nervous since I am not used to being in front of the camera... The director asked me to say my name but i ended up crying in front of the huge crowd. it was embarassing yet a memorable experience for me... another childhoold memory would be singing my mother's favorite songs.. :)

My favorite first memory was also about 3. I somehow managed to get off my grandparents porch of the farm house and wandered down to the pasture. There was a horse named Ole Charlie and he was supposed to have been mean and not like to be ridden. I went down to that horse and when my grandparents and parents did see me I was holding on to his front leg singing "Ring around the Rosie" and falling down in the field and getting up and doing it again. My parents and grandparents were terrified the horse would stomp or kick me but he must have somehow known I was small and stood perfectly still while I played under him and grabbing his leg. When I was 5 I wanted to feed the ducks. We were at my mothers fathers house and grandpa had given me a pail of corn. I wanted to feed one kernel at a time, and the ducks come out and started nipping my ankles. They wanted THEIR FOOD! My Grandpa kept yelling throw the corn out to them. I however tried to run because being bullheaded I still wanted to feed them one kernel at a time! And they still chased after me!

I was three years of age. It was when my baby sister was born. I remember waiting inside the hospital room my mother was placed. When my mom came back carrying with her my baby sister, I remembered staring at the baby for quite sometime. I got very curious at the baby that I kept touching her and my mother scolded me for being annoying.

Wow, you could determine the exact date of your earliest childhood memory as you only need to check the birth certificate of your sister. I hope your mom's scolding did not have a negative effect on your relationship with your sister. lol

i think i was four (4) years old. i remember playing with my younger sister, Nenet, inside our house. one of our games was kicking a big empty milk can to make it roll. i remember Nenet went up the one-step stair and placed the milk can at the end of the hallway. She then walk, while kicking the milk can, towards the stair. When she reached the edge of the stair, she kicked the milk can and that was when she lost her balance and fell down the stair. The back of her head hit the edge of the stair. I remember seeing blood at the back of her head and our "yaya" screaming. Our parents were at work that time so it was our "yaya" who rushed her to the hospital. I remember riding a tricycle with our "yaya" and Nenet. At the emergency room, a doctor stitched the open wound at the back of Nenet's head. To this day, Nenet has the scar at the back of her head, always reminding us what happened that day.

My earliest childhood memory was probably when I went to China with my grandparents. We were up in the airplane and the first thing I did was grab a pen and paper and started drawing, which is why I am pretty artistic now. During the stay there, many things happened. I ate snake skin and threw up all over the place. We had fireworks and played with it. I was jumping up and down on the bed, fell off and broke my arm. I went fishing for shrimps and last but not least I rode on a motorcycle with my dad.
