Facebook is the most famous social networking site in the history of social networking. And now their are more than 10 millions users are used this site. And now it is the symbol of their prestige. Means if you are on facebook then many people think that this person is really a high tech person because he/she used facebook. And now many businessmen are also joining this site for their business and fore their fans. So I think every person want to show their standards by this site. So what do you say about this.

No Facebook Is not the sign of 'prestige' for many people because many use it so we can't say that everyone who have facebook account is unique or special as it don't require any special skills to make an account. It is very easy and anyone can create an account for themselves. They don't show standards but this is one way for them to get show-off! For business people it is must as facebook is now we can consider as one of the successful marketing business tool for them so if they have new products they may update anything fast and easy for fans and customer to trace those.

I thought Harvard was a symbol of prestige, but facebook? Ah no, I don't think so. What about the 6 billion people in the world that don't have facebook? They probably could have one if they wanted to. I am sure they don't view it as some prestigous thing because if they did they would have one too. It's not some grand thing. The only people making it into a big deal are it's users because it's been driven by the media. It's popularity will decline some day. Remember when everyone thought myspace was the greatest thing in the world? What happened there?

I don't view Facebook as a sign of prestige at all. It's a social network that millions of people use and a huge number are certainly not "high tech" people. Virtually anyone that can access the internet can create a Facebook page. It takes no particular skills or anything -- but, for those who ARE skilled, their pages can certainly be modified to look really cool I think people have fun, make connections with family, friends and people they may have lost touch with throughout their lives, discover new things (like music, products, companies, etc.), play games and more... but I don't think there are any "standards" or "prestige" whatsoever to being on Facebook.

Me too agree about that. Facebook is created for everyone no matter they have skilled or not in order for them to interact with each other. If it for people who is very good in computer it will be known as 'social networking for high-tech only' and it won't be in the level as it is now.
Facebook is for fun!

For many people this has become a symbol of prestige as well as flaunting their lifestyles. People constantly update every little happening of their life on their wall for the whole world to see which I think shows how much they show off. I think it is not so much about being a tech-savvy person as it about having a high profile lifestyle that people flaunt on their walls.
