Being a resident of a college town I am naturally a fan of college football. Recently I heard that Steve Spurrier has suggested that the players be compensated. I personally do not feel that this is appropriate. First of all, these guys are already getting a free education. Couldn't that money be used to pay for less fortunate people to attend the school? Second of all, we are in a recession! I think the fans will not appreciate continuing to pay high ticket prices while the players are paid.
I have said my piece, but now I would like to hear how you feel about this. Am I alone or does everyone else think this is unnecessarily frivolous?

Are people nowadays a little bit too materialistic? Why do they always ask for getting paid? I think the college football players can be subsidized but not getting paid. College football player is not a job ahhuh, right?

I would agree with you however, Colleges makes millions of dollars off of the players. Just for signing an exclusive deal with companies the earn money for players wearing their merchandise on the field. In addition, college players are put on restrictions that makes it hard for them to get money to enjoy their college years. they follow ethic rules like NFL players, Practice on top off going to classes and maintaining a certain grade level, curfews. While the schools collect and coaches get millions of dollars also.

yes yes definetly.... they have to be paid only then they can use that money for their dates.... paying that money for the less fortuned is aint fair..... there are many organisations... even the government is there to take care those people.... hence i go with the point of using the money for himselves.

college football players should not get pay because of the main fact that college is a learning institution not a earning institution.college basically prepares students for the world of work by instilling in them skills, knowledge and abilities to do things. For a college football player to get pay will serve as a detterent for them when they leave the institution and into the world of world as while in college they would place more emphasis on playing football than doing their school work.
