What do you believe about live and how things got to the way they are?

Today while having a discussion with my fiance I had a sort of epiphany. I am not an atheist nor am I a follower of any religion. I am a very open minded person and listen to every different theories. I was thinking... many people think the evolution theory is completely bogus. However, some people should look at it from a different view. People should not think of evolution on a level of us coming from a breed of monkeys or other species evolving into us. What if we were already here? Now before you read all I ask is that you please keep an open mind and don't bash this if you are a religious person. I am not bad talking any religion and do not mean to offend anyone. What I am thinking is that we were and are just like all animals. We are a species of animal like fish and cats and dogs. Along with being a species of animal we are in the animal group with monkeys. Such as cats, lions, and cougars are in the feline group. Anyways back on topic. I think that we did not physically evolve from another species, but yet that we evolved amongst ourselves. The human mental capacity and ability to comprehend things is what has evolved. For example, cavemen had the simplest of minds and only knew little things. They knew that rubbing wood made fire, some fruits made dyes that could be used to draw, and that fire cooked. In today's society we know more. We know in depth chemical compounds of fire and ink, what other things can produce fire and why they do, and many other things. I guess in short all I am trying to do is open up another level of the evolution thought. Not that we came from another animal. We need to realize that we are in fact animals. We are animals to every other animal as they are to us. We just happen to have evolved to be able to develop tools and other things to better our lives.
